The Akufo-Addo government has inherited a “very difficult” economy from the previous administration, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has said.
Speaking at a durbar of Zongo chiefs and Imams at Fadama in Accra organised by the Chief Imam to mark the birthday of Holy Prophet Mohammed, Dr Bawumia said despite the bad economy the New Patriotic Party has inherited, the Akufo-Addo-led government will deliver on all its promises.
“…We said that when by the grace of Allah we get into government, we will undertake a number of policies and by the grace of God we have gotten into government, we have looked at the economic situation, it is not an easy one, it is a very difficult one but by the grace of Allah we intend to keep all the promises that we made to the people of Ghana.
“You have already seen that we mean business; we are going to deal with the economic challenges, after all, that is what we were elected to do,” Dr Bawumia said.
As part of those promises, Dr Bawumia said the government will established the Zongo Development Fund in the first quarter of the year. “We will establish the Zongo Development Fund in our very first budget in March of this year. It is very important for people of the zongos and Muslims at large who live in the zongos. … We will establish it and work in consultation with our chiefs, our imams, our opinion leaders to make sure the fund is delivers on the needs of the people of the zongos.”

bawumia you did tell us this on your campaign t rail and through your numerous lectures but yet you went ahead and made those spurious promises so get to work and spare us those talks. loose
Some people are talking like the Economy is liken giving your girlfriend chop money. It's about proper planning and intelligence so stop the attacks on the new government and let them do the thinking of fixing the economy. Sometimes you can't fullfil empty promises to your girlfriend and you're rushing government to fixing the economy which needs brains. shout up if you don't have good options of solutions to the economy. NPP will deliver in the name of Jesus.
These MAN has no excuse to tell Ghanaian but to fix it.
Even CNN, BBC, Aljazeera and foreign media have made it clear that NPP inherited a very bad economy. World bank, and IMF had frozen employment of expenditure of over the last many year of the country due to falling economy and you saying what?
NANA AND BAWUMIA SHOULD NOT FORGET THAT ELECTRICITY IS STILL EXPENSIVE THAN RENT. MASSSAA FIX THE PROBLEMS AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT NO ONE IN NPP SHOULD TELL US AGAIN HOW DIFFICULT THE ECONOMIC SITUATION IS! IT SOUNDZ STIWWPID. IS LIKE TELLING US THAT (THE SEA IS BIG) PLEASE, TELL US WHAT WE DON`T KNOW. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY OF TELLING US THE ECONOMY IS BROKE. IF NANA AND BAWUMIA INTENDS TO INCREASE UTILITY AND OTHER BILLS AGAIN THEY MUST THINK TWICE
Bawumia has started fattening. In fact he is looking too sluggish for my liking. Professor Incompetent, campaign is over ooooo, get to work.
@ SOOO, WHERE DID GET YOUR 14% LEFT BY K4, & 7% LEFT BY MAHAMA. GHANAIAN S ARE WISE ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR COMPETENT MANAGERS OF OUR ECONOMY.
Wiseman, the issue is Bawumia had already told us during the campaign so what again? Kufour left 14% deficit, so callEd comment government But NDC, you incompetent government left 7%, so Bawumia should keep quiet and get work We are paying him so he should fix it
Massa Keep quiet and FIX IT,(Akuffo Addo, 2009)
