Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has vehemently opposed the levy by stating that : Existing law allow government to tow vehicles wrongfully parked on our roads and charge a fee accordingly.
Parliament's Roads and Transport Committee has approved the controversial Mandatory Tow Levy which comes into operation on September 1, 2017.
According to the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Samuel Ayeh-Paye, the decision was arrived at after extensive consultations with stakeholders in the road and transport industry.
However, Dr Nduom disagrees.
"Existing law allow government to tow vehicles wrongfully parked on our roads and charge a fee accordingly. So why assume that we will all engage in illegal parking and require towing and as a result make it mandatory for all vehicle owners to pay a road towing fee every year? This smells badly. Chop chop for whom? At whose expense? Let those who flout the law pay and leave the rest alone. Join the fight against the mandatory towing levy" he said.

REJECT WRONG POLICY BUT SUPPORT GOOD ONES WHEN THE ARE INTRODUCED
Fellow Ghanaian, I can confidently tell you that all the levy been proposed by this government it gera toward the implementation and chop chop project been promised the public. It is way of finding half fund for their so called 'Free SHS' program which I bet will never happen judging from the way they are misrepresenting themselves in outline the plan. Watch out for the responses.
My experience in Ghana is that we are not good at providing services especially when we are paid before hand. That is why we pay for street lights and yet we dont drive in darkness. We pay for Zoomlion garbage collection and yet our homes are filthy with uncollected trash. Now we are being forced to pay for towing which is not likely to be provided for all the poor reasons. Above all we do not have a vibrant consumer protection interest group to protect us. We fall for anything helplessly. How many of the politicians licence their cars. They will not even pay yet forcinig it on the poor masses
NPP, do not take us Ghanaians for granted oooooo. Yoooo
tow the car to where? if my car breaksdown at Paga, will they come there within 2hours and tow it to Accra? Or will they chop my money and tell me to go to helllllll? I want to know, so that i can tell them to go to helllllll first. Come and take my money - nkwasssshiafuor!!! Nana Addo, you just came to power after a long struggle and you have jumped into bed with NDC financiers eh? We shall see.
I HAVE SOME FEW QUESTIONS TO ASK OUR PALIAMENTARIANS FIRST Q.> .>AFTER THEY HAVE COLLECTED THE TOLL LEVY FOR ONE YEAR HOW MUCH WILL THE AMOUNT BE? SECOND Q.>HOW MANY CARS WILL THEY TOW IN EVERY YEAR.THIRD Q.>AND HOW MUCH WILL THE TOWING COST.? Q.< FOUR WHY WOULD I PAY TOWING LEVY IF I HAVE COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE? GHANAIANS SHOULD RESIST THIS CHOP, CHOP NDC, NPP THIEFVRY.
TYou have really made a good Point Dr. Ndoum this the kind of responsible opposition Ghana has been crying for. This is a pure ploy between the NDC and the NPP party to milk the ordinary Ghanaian to that Road Safety Management Company with will continue sponsoring their parties. Why is the acting Gen Secretary of the NPP John Boadu not speaking on this matter why is The NDC General Secretary not speaking on this matter. What happening to the high insurance premiums imposed on the ordinary Ghanaian can't part be used to cater for such a project. How come one company which has no experience in this business be employed to milk the people. How sure is the government that this inexperience company will do the job. We will support all Drivers to demonstrate against this move which will only cripple the ordinary more. Dr. Ndoum this a good opportunity for you to let the ordinary Ghanaian voter know that your Party cares for them. We are behind you and are prepared to go into the streets to demonstrate the abrogation of such an obnoxious law that will make the ordinary Ghanaian Poor
I support the idea of delegating this towing business to the various district assemblies for prompt action and as a means of generating income to the assembies
I will not pay..... Dubious contract to just one company. Why should govt create this huge monopoly? We must think outside the box and avoid this fu.ulissh idea. I believe the Police service or the District Assemblies should be allowed to run this service as a means to generate income.
