National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says Ghanaians must laud the Akufo-Addo-led government’s flagship program, the free Senior High School policy which begins in all public Senior High Schools across the country today.
He however would have preferred the policy was accessible by first, second and third year Senior High School (SHS) students.
He told NEAT FM's morning show sit-in-host, Mac-Jerry that whoever speaks against the policy of free SHS education for first (1st) to third (3rd) students, is an ‘ugly evil-looking person’.
“Whoever will openly say he or she doesn’t support this free SHS policy for first (1st) to third (3rd) students is a witch, I mean a witch with no class. The policy is a good one,” he categorically stated.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s key campaign message during the 2012 and 2016 election period was to introduce free Senior High School for Ghanaians – the policy is projected to cost 3.6 billion Ghana cedis each year.
The then party in power, the NDC disbelieved Nana Addo’s vision to make the policy a reality – but, years after, the policy is set to roll across the country today, September 11, 2017.
A little over 400,000 students are expected to benefit from the policy that will exempt them from paying for tuition and other fees.
But Kofi Adams has advised government to put in place measures to make the policy “a long lasting” one that will be of benefit for all.
“There should be some quality attached to the free. The policy should benefit all including continuing students. It shouldn’t be free only for freshers but to all. If possible, needy but brilliant students should have some privileges as well,” he said.
According to him “This policy is similar to the NDC’s progressively free education policy."

ALL IN NDC SECRETELY ADMIRE WHAT NPP AND NANA ADDO IS DOING BUT FOR THE SAKE OF POLITICS THEY CRITICIZE IT. WHEN THEY KNOW HOW VERY WELL NANA AND CO ARE DOING THEY STILL ADD BUT TO IT.
I have always known ndc to be a group of witches and wizards who are second in command to the devil and kofi adamu is not an exception. he might be indirectly making mockery of the policy. they are all evil minded ple. i hope they never come to power bcos they will collapse it. they have no brain to think on how to implement a policy let alone what to do to keep it alive. the only policy they know is how to steal.
Kudos Mr Adams truth is one
first time Kofi made sense. is very rare to hear Kofi talking sense.
Prophet Budu Kobi who prophesied that John Mahama will win the 2016 elections hands down says he doesn't support the free SHS policy and that any parent who allows his/her child's fees to be sponsored without the person himself/herself paying for it is an irresponsible person and a disgrace to the society. I heard this prophet live on Accra FM with my own ears making this statement. Hence as per Kofi Adams' statement, the Prophet is an "ug1y evil-looking person". Kofi said it oo not me ooo. Hmmmm! THE BATTLE IS STILL THE LORD'S
kofi, thumbs up!am very glad u hv told the truth even though u are in opposition.there are serious policies that needs no politicization at all.this is the only way we can move our country forward.
Kofi don't compare tangerine with pumpkins, whichican Progressive free? Comparing 58 Cedis to over 1,000 Cedis per student doesn't wash. I just heard the Finance Minister defending the possibility of achieving the audacious promises of the NPP government because only one contract he perused was overblown by $150 MILLION and monies can give the $1 Million per constituency and more if value for money audit is well-oiled to avail money going into individual pockets for development. Wow Kofi if these including the ***barred word*** SSNIT software scandal and the snippets of info on corruption are true then you people were wickedly corrupt. WHAT!!!!
that is why we need visionary leaders to use our resources efficiently in benefiting every single Ghanaian no matter where you are. Even though we may have several difficulties and setbacks in changing ourlives for the better, we must insist to go through together as a country and we will succeed . To all the Ministers who are bent on bringing the needed change and be countered as visionaries, we salute you and we will work for mother Ghana not selfish, ***barred word*** minded politicians and individuals. The next three years will be tough but I know by the fourth year, we will have something to be proud of and build upon that. Lets speak good about GH, lets talk about ideas, new and better way of doing things devoid of political insult, lets filled our minds with positivity and we will be amazed how great we are. God Bless Ghana and give us sound mind, good courage and understanding.
This is one policy that requires the support of every one. No partisanship. It benefit transcend political lines. We must all come together to ensure its success and how to make it sustainable. The amount of money involve is colossal, and we need to fashion out a sustainable funding source. Govt must put in place strong controls to avoid abuse by public officials.
I think Kofi has spoken well. You don't have to speak against everything even if it is a good thing because you are in opposition.
