Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has commended President Akufo Addo for giving a ‘very matured’ speech at the launch of the free SHS policy.
President Akufo Addo during the launch of the free SHS programme at the West African Secondary School (WASS) at Adenta in Accra on Tuesday urged politicians to take politicking out of the free SHS policy.
Hours before the official launch, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia took to his facebook page to deride critics of the free SHS program (especially members of the National Democratic Congress) who had described the policy as an "election gimmick", a "hoax" or "fraud" .
In the post, Dr Bawumia said: "we thank God. They said it was impossible. They said it was an election gimmick. They said it was a hoax. Today, the impossible has become possible. Today, Free Senior High School education is here. We thank God for the vision and fortitude of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo... God bless our homeland Ghana”
But the post appears not to have gone down well with Mr Pratt.
He cannot comprehend why the President asked that free SHS should not be politicised, yet the Vice President and other NPP communicators went on to engage in politicking and propaganda.
“I must say this…the President’s speech in launching the programme was extremely matured…I heard the President say that nobody should reduce this SHS programme to a propaganda war….unfortunately, it does not appear that many people in his government listened to him…because in that very moment, Vice President Bawumia, party communicators were dissing everybody; calling them all kinds of names…they didn’t listen to their own president and that is a problem…” he said during a panel discussion on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday.

Kwesi Pratt is a disgrace to journalism. He should retire, he has nothing good to offer.
I bet you if Dr Bawumia had not tweeted, Pratt would have still looked for something in Nana Addo's speech - a word, a phrase or sentence, and used that to attack the government. If you wake up in the morning and start looking for the negatives rather than positives, then you have a problem
confused man
Kwesi Pratt is wrong. It is true that President Akkufo Addo gave a mature speech to launch the free SHS, yet it does not erode the fact Dr. Bawumia reiterated. If we stop denouncing bad judgment, lies, and unjustified statements, how can we expect to stop such negative attitude and actions. If people are not made accountable for what they say how can we promote truthfulness and eliminate propaganda. We don't make achievement out of sheer propaganda but practical assessment of condition. Dr. Bawumia stating that the SHS has come to pass because of their right assessment of conditions in Ghana was right. He who properly understand the problem offer the best solution. Politics is not propaganda, Mr. Pratt, but pragmatic policy to achieve right goals.
Pratt is one of the NDC members who ridiculed the implementation of the free SHS program. Today he is shamelessly attacking somebody else who said nothing bad. His Otokunor-like teeth were not given him for nothing. Fire burn Pratt!!!!
This man has lost his credibility...He is not relevant anymore
Aoo Wofa Kwesi erh! You always put yourself on the cross to be nailed and you don't seem to care. What you quoted as what His Excellency the Vice President said did not say anything negative about the opposition and I don't see any politicking in that speech or quote as it were. Are you worried because He said, "We thank God...." Please, spare yourself some swipe.
Pratt argument and analysis are most of the time jaundiced. They (NDC) hate Bawumiah because of the huge role he played in their defeat and the prospect of the 2024 presidential elections. The economic whiz kid just posited the facts, and that is the fact.
Mr Pratt, must you always search and fish out something, no matter how inconsequential, so you can use to attack the government? Who is forcing you? If you have nothing negative to say about NPP and the government, just keep quiet.
