President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admitted his campaign promises are ambitious and doubts he will be able to fulfil all before the end of his four-year term.
President Akufo-Addo outlined a litany of promises on the campaign trail including Free SHS programme, One District, One Factory, One Village, One Dam, Office of the Special Prosecutor among others.
President Akufo-Addo believes Ghana needs such policies for rapid transformation and to better the lives of citizens. However, his fear is that the four years may be too short to completely realise that dream.
“I have ambitious promises, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to fulfil all of them,” Akufo-Addo stressed at the 2017 Bloomberg Africa Business Media Innovators Summit in Accra on Monday, November 13, 2017.
President Akufo-Addo pointed out his government is putting in a lot of efforts to build a robust economy by creating jobs through the agriculture sector under the Planting for Food and Jobs pogramme among others.
Already, his government has rolled out his main campaign mantra Free Senior High School programme, which was executed in September. The New Patriotic Party government has also started the digital property address system, restoration of the nurses allowance, the paperless system at the ports, the One District, One Factory policy and the E-registration at the Registrar General’s department.
The 11-month-old government has also scrapped some “nuisance taxes” but is yet to implement the One District, One Dam programme, the creation of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, reduction in electricity tariff, creation of five regions among others.
Africa Business Media Innovators (ABMI) 2017 is a three-day gathering hosted by Matt Winkler, Co-Founder & Editor Emeritus, Bloomberg News, and Justin Smith, CEO of Bloomberg Media.
Focused on Africa, but with a global perspective, ABMI17 will explore how best to maintain a flourishing media sector and how business and financial journalism can best contribute to sustainable development on the African continent.

I cant really think far on how ghanaians reason these days. Every word from 8 out of 10 ghanaian is all about insults. Where are going with this. Opposition is only wishing for the failure of incumbent government. They see nothing good and it a shame. Elections are over and all our focus is on the next election and not on the progress of this country. Ghanaians have put their faith political party and personalities thinking they will relieve them of their trouble. People will die for Mahama or Nana addo because they have put their faith in them. This for me is share stu?pidity. In any case, which Government have been able to fulfill all it promises. He Nana Addo cant determinre because he acknowledges he is human and can die, fell sick. Was prof Mill able to fulfill is promises? Granted, give Mahama a second term to become president he cant fulfill his all promises. Nana i think was being honest and his the fact. Let stop the insults now and respect each other.
***barred word*** MAROON PK CAN YOUR DNC JDM ONAPO TUIIIIIIIIII ***barred word*** DO WHAT THE TEN (10) MONTH NPP GOVERNMENT LED BY NANA AKUFO ADDO DANQUAH AND HIS VICE GENERAL DR. MAMMUDU BAWUMIA HAS SO FAR DONE? ***barred word*** ***barred word*** YUSHRUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ***barred word*** TITI MUTUMI BASA BASA KWASA SA, APUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Nana do not worry at all just take your time and do what you can within your tenure, we are solidly behind you.
Nana Addo please you have 8 years not 4 years which am sure you can complete all your promises. thx
Ghanaians are just ffoools period !!! What is wrong with what the president said.always looking for an avenue to see people fail, ghanafuo gyimifuoo
we told u NPP is a useeless govt. Nana Addo is a useleess jackasss. we told u. we chppped ghana money. But he cannot do anything because he is an old useeelesss fuuuuuuuuuul. We will do him like the way Tsikata did Kufuor. We will not go to jail. We will enjoy our stolllen money. And Ghanaians will lose faith in NPP by 2020. and NDC will come back to chop even more than ever. Stuuuuppppidddd NPP govt. Nkwassshiafuorrr
NPP party, you still have goodwill. Don't let Nana addo spoil it for you with his recent incompetence and foooooooooolish behaviors. Start grooming new people with better ideas to CHALLENGE NANA ADDO within the party. If you don't, you will regret in 2020. I am telling you.
In this modern era, agriculture is efficient. You cannot create jobs in agriculture by having thousands of inefficient farmers! You are just playing the fooooool if you think that will work. The only way to have sustainable agriculture is to have few farmers having big farms that run based on economies of scale and division of labor. How can a farmer in Ghana using a hoe and cutlass on 1 acre farm compete with a farmer in Texas using tractors and combine harvestor on 1000 acres? Show me how the Ghanaians will be able to compete with the rice that is imported from the Texas farmer? Our leaders are very stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid. Mahama, Nana - they are all stuuuuuuuuuuuppppid.
Nana Addo is going to send NPP back to opposition
Was a gun pointed at you before making those hefty and unrealistic promises? Free SHS, fine it has come. But the cash parents are coughing up to pay for rent and food, one cannot imagine. Ghanaians think FREE SHS equals to Boarding House Education. The society needs to be educated on that.
