Former deputy minister of Information has rejected government's attempt to blame the previous administration for the worrying 2017 corruption perception index, the worse since 2012.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu described the attempt as "astonishing in its defiance of logic".
The reactions to the release of the report on the latest Global Corruption Perception Index confirmed fears of the Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) Linda Ofori-Kwafo, that the report will be politicised.
It was government spokesperson on Governance and Legal Affairs Herbert Krapa who argued that the 2016 corruption scandals under John Mahama negatively influenced the corruption perception index for 2017.
Ghana dropped from the 43% scored in 2016 to 40% in 2017. The reasons for the three percent difference are up for political analysis.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu believes the Akufo-Addo government wants to "shirk its own responsibility for their own poor performance".
He said the report "completely shatters" the Akufo-Addo government which has been "living in a bubble" when it comes to fighting corruption.
Although the report blames the failure to exact punishment for the rising perception, the deputy Information minister was quick to point to the trial of government official Abuga Pele who was charged for causing financial loss to the state under the erstwhile NDC.
The trial which began under the NDC administration is expected to end Friday when the High Court delivers judgment.
But he suggested such concrete steps taken under John Mahama is yet to be seen under the Akufo-Addo government.
He described steps government has taken in the BOST contaminated fuel saga, the $2.25 cedis Bond saga and the cash-for-seat probe as "farcical and cynical cover-ups".
Felix Kwakye Ofosu also described President Akufo-Addo for supervising a "nepotistic" government after appointing "dozens" of his relatives into government.
"It has never happened in the history of Ghana", the Mahama appointee claimed.

This is exactly what Bawumia said about this bunch of nation wreckers. Either they don't read or read and don't understand. The report made mentioned of all the corruption allegation under former president Mahama and his ndc T.H.I.E.V.E.S., so what is this B.A.S.T.A.R...D talking about.
I blame Nana and his govt for not prosecuting this bunch of corrupt officials. He shld just send one to jail and we will see who have the mouth to talk in Gh. Now that Abuga Pele is gone we all live to see.
This guy should leave us alone. Because he have no father, he have no respect for any man. It is not anybody's fault that you do not have a father. Learn how to respect and stop your bastard attitude.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu is frustrated because he is unemployed. I strongly believe if he is fully employed he will not make such comments.
the most ***barred word*** government i have ever come across in my entire life in ghana is this akufo addo bawumia goverment. very incompetent, very confused and they can't actually tell what they are abount. you have put in place 110 ministers and other public appointments but you don't know your left from your right. ***barred word*** akufo addo dwarf and moron bawumia the typical northern liar.shame!!!!!
NADAA's KEN OFORI ATTA HAS JUST BECOME LIKE JAK's DR Richard Anane.Hehehe
The results of the corruption index is from 2016 to 2017, it mention almost the corruption that took place under the John Mahama gov't. it talks about the BUS BRANDING, THE YEEDA, SADA, NIL, standard board ETC. of which it some of the NDC appointees are in court or have been prosecuted .
When did ndc left office? Or they've forgotten about themselves that they left in 2017 with new appointments made even the night before they left in 2017 January they made an appointment so if something translate from 2016 to 2017 does ndc expect me to carry their sins? No way! So somebody tell that Lactogen baby with sharp teeth to sh*t the fu*k up for 1984 is not equal to Gold Coast. These fo*ls in the ndc who weren't born when Kwamena Ahwoi, Kofi Totobi Kwakye, PV Obeng, Ato Ahwoi, Amissah Arthur and co were fed with chicken and given eggs 3 times a weak and were being fed in cafeteria with good food but demonstrated against eating too much chicken piss me off when they talk like Ghana came to meet them. From Osagyefo's te to 1972 some secondary schools were given snacks with Chocolate drink and cookies, when we tell you these people who demonstrated against chicken are wicked and insens*tive you think they are heroes in the ndc, how many jobs did they create for their followers from time immemorial? NIL! and these 1982 boys are also copying them with lies and using their suffering followers to enrich themselves and talk sh*t to Ghanaians.
The three point drop from 43 to 40 is also because the people of Ghana says if you not prosecuting yet then you must be doing the same things NDC did. So its not actual cases of corruption in 2017 but fears of delayed or no prosecution for cases in 2016. Lets read more and keep the debate going.
Most of the cases are from 2016 and further revelations in 2017. It does not mean that they occurred in 2017. Thats why the NPP appear to still blame the NDC. Its actually a spill over from 2016. This guy Felix is only trying to play on the intelligence of Ghana people!
