Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has descended heavily on the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May.
The Prime Minister courted controversy after stating that Britain will help any Commonwealth country wanting to reform anti-gay laws.
Addressing the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, she said “nobody should face persecution or discrimination because of who they are or who they love,” adding, “the UK stands ready to support any Commonwealth member wanting to reform outdated legislation that makes such discrimination possible. The world has changed”.
Some critics described her comments as an insult.
The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah according to a report filed by Myjoyonline.com condemned Theresa May's comments saying “for me, that is an insult to Ghanaians. Insult to the extent that they [are] trying to dictate to us [Ghanaians]. It is against the belief of Christians, Muslims, and Traditionalists..."
Senior Law Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, Moses Foh-Amoaning, on his part, said Theresa May's comments shows clearly her ignorance of and disrespect for Africans’ cultural and moral values, and also betrays her neo-colonialist mentality.
Speaking to the issue, during a panel discussion on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji programme, Saturday, Kwesi Pratt asked the UK Prime Minister to "keep your standards and let us keep ours…We don’t need Theresa may to tell us what is moral and what is immoral. What authority does she have to be preaching to us about morality? Look at what they did in Iraq on the basis of a lie by a British prime minister…on the basis of a fabrication they attacked Syria; what is more immoral than that? No British prime minister can teach us morals and they should spare us their arrogance!"

Even though i completely disagree with the western world telling us what to do when it comes to this disgusting gay or lesbians thing, this is not the way to talk if you claim to be a season journalist. Who is more arrogant and good for nothing than you Pratt. You should mind your words when it comes to world leaders. Show some respect when discussing issues.Remember your hands are not clean.
Kwesi Pratt again in his elements as a polemicist, populist, hypocrite and that has clearly become his trademark. The argument is: 'the UK stands ready to support any Commonwealth member WANTING to reform outdated legislation that makes such discrimination possible'. There is no dictatorship or imposition of opinion here. The stress is on the word 'wanting'. As a seasoned journalist, I guess, at least, he has to do well to be subjective and logical in his argumentation.
Pls, madam lesbian, do it in your country and stop telling us to do it our country. Africa believes in God and we will resist gay and lesbians with our blood. we are more decent people than u. Thank you uncle Kwesi.
Thanks Kwesi.
some confuse people try comparing fornication, adultery, corruption; to gaysm. they are not the same. God punished gays in Sodom and Gomorrah and God did not accept it at all.
yet Ghanaians queue to get UK VISA. Stuppppidddity is killing ghana
Personally, I have no problem with someone being gay or lesbian. But I have a problem with a gay trying to redefine for me what should constitute morality because "the world has changed". The world might have changed but my concept of morality and of God's Word abhorring it has not changed. So whilst it is your personal right to be gay and which I respect,I also deserve that right to have my opinion on what is the definition of morality even in the wake of the change. You don't have to rob the rights of non-gays to enshrine the rights of gays.To make the changing of our laws to pro-gay as a condition for any form of assistance or aid or bargaining chip is unacceptable.
Every country in the world must also embrace polygamy too.....
YOU ARE MAKING YOUR INSULT INTERNATIONAL. THERESY MAY HAS MADE HER POSITION CLEAR. THIS IS NOT NEW. THIS IS THE POLICY OF MANY WESTERN GOVERNMENT. THANK GOD WE DISAGREE TO THIS IN GHANA. WE SHOULD MAKE OUR POSITION CLEAR AND EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE AGAINST THE PRACTICE. YOU DON'T NEED TO INSULT BEFORE YOU CAN MAKE YOUR POINT CLEAR.
Well said Kwesi Pratt. For the first time I have agreed with you 100%, if not more.
