The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker, has described employment under the government’s Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO) program as an unsustainable one.
According to him, jobs to be provided under the programme are momentary, and will not enable young people to build a career nor address the challenge of unemployment in the country.
He stated that the youth to be employed under NABCO would go back to be jobless after a short period because the jobs NABCO is offering are not permanent jobs.
“We have been here before; these jobs are not sustainable jobs. How long are these youth going to have their jobs for? The youth should be offered jobs that will last for a very long time, jobs they can build their careers on. Let’s get the youth serious jobs for once.” he said.
On Wednesday, 17th October President Akufo Addo would be commissioning the over 90,000 applicants accepted under the NABCO programme.
The recruits will be engaged in seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation.
The beneficiaries are supposed to be on the programme for three years.
About NaBCo
President Akufo-Addo launched the Nation Builder’s Corps as an alternative job creation opportunity for the country’s jobless graduates. The programme is expected to create 100,000 jobs in seven sectors of the economy including health, education, agriculture, and ICT.
It also forms part of government’s commitment towards addressing the high unemployment in the country. The programme, which will be managed by the office of the President, will focus on alleviating shortfalls in public service delivery.
The beneficiaries will be engaged for three years and they are expected to earn a monthly stipend of GH¢700 each.
The modules are Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitise Ghana and Governance Ghana.

I think I agree with this caricature. The only thing sustainable in Ghana is to engage yourself in CREATE, LOOT AND SHARE. This is the most sustainable job developed by the NDC since it was foisted on this dear country of ours by JJ Rawlings.
When you were in government,l these guys were unemployed, you sat there for 8 years without providing any hope to them. Now somebody has been able to offer at least some respite for them and instead of applauding the concept and you coming up with ideas that will help sustain the concept, you are sitting there talking out of your rear and spewing feces. If its not sustainable, come up with an idea which would be sustainable. Its really true that empty barrels make the most noise and NDC are really putting meaning to this saying.
AS FOR YOU THESE NDCEIVES EVERYTHING IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. TO YOU ITS ONLY STEALING THAT IS SUSTAINABLE.
So it is sustainable for them to sit at home without doing anything when you sent your kids abroad.
NDC prophets of doom...... Nothing is sustainable under the corrupt NDC. Why not when a corrupt government will use state money to corruptly brand buses...... This NDC cr!minals must never come to power again.....
