Former President John Dramani Mahama has condemned the 'hypocrisy' of 'some opinion leaders' in the country.
According to him, there are some 'opinion leaders' in the country who sees everything right with what the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does and everything wrong with what the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does.
His comment follows numerous bashing he received after his unpopular 'boot for boot' comment.
Former President Mahama after some members of the NDC were shot at La Bawaleshie during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election blamed the ruling NPP and said 'we will match them boot for boot'
“We are not going to joke in 2020, and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot…I want to sound a caution that NDC has a revolutionary root and when it comes to unleashing violence, no one can beat us to that. It is just that we are mindful of this country’s democracy and that is why we must be the first to respect it. That is why we are acting as a party that is docile and respecting the rule of law. But if we believe that the government cannot protect our people and we believe that the government is using its vigilante groups and illegal forces to intimidate and harass and injure our people, then we may have to advise ourselves.”
He added: “We respect the Constitution of this country and the NDC is a democratic party and that’s why we abide by the rules of the Constitution. But the same Constitution says that Ghanaians should resist anybody who attempts to subvert the Constitution. When you go rampaging with forces and intimidating people when they should come out and vote, you are subverting the Constitution. And we have a right to resist you.”
Responding to his critics while speaking at a campaign event late Saturday evening in the Volta Region, Mahama bemoaned: “the problem in Ghana is the hypocrisy of some of our opinion leaders. Anytime NDC is in power, they are always very vocal. When something happens … they are condemning, but as soon as their preferred government comes into power, everything is right: ‘family and friends [government]’ is okay as long as they are qualified. You think NPP will be in power forever”, he intimated.

Are you a former president? do you call yourself a leader? hmmm NDC has a big problem to solve than to think of winning election in Ghana. Mahama will never ever be president of Ghana even if one day NDC should win the seat of government again. Mahama your approach to issues make you too immature for state leadership position. if you will take my advise, please join GIMPA or KAIC to learn more about leadership. dont be uselessssss for the state please.
HMMMM! NPP WILL NOT BE IN POWER FOREVER. THE WORDS OF A DESPERATE MAHAMA, AND MAHAMA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT AGAIN.MARK MY WORDS. ITS TRUE NPP WILL NEVER BE IN POWER FOREVER BUT AT THE SAME TIME NDC WILL NEVER BE IN POWER AGAIN MARK MY WORDS. ITS EITHER NPP OR ANOTHER POLITICAL PARTY BUT NOT NDC.EVIL NDC.
mahama u shld talk like a matured guy
IS GOOD MAHAMA HAS WAKE UP BCOS NPP IS NOT KIND OF PARTY THAT WANT PEACE, BOOT FOR BOOT, LET GET OUR GUNS AND CUTLASSES READY TO PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY NPP WANT TO TAKE WITH INTIMIDATION
Mahama is a spent force now. He should realise Ghanaians have given up on his lies and violent tactics. The NPP will not remain in power but your electoral fraud activities will not be tolerated anymore so don't try to use violence in anyway to get into office because it will not be good for you and your friends.
I remember how you were heckled everywhere you went in 2016 even at the Asantehenma's funeral and at Asantehene's palace. Your security were so professional that no one was hurt. Someone try a little of that on the sitting president. Maturity is having all the power and ammunition to destroy your enemies but exercising restraint. The NPP need professional security personnel to do that. Winning a battle in one small mansion in Bawoleshi has destroyed your reputation in Accra. What is the development if a Ghanaian cannot go and vote in peace? What is the use, making peace with Abudu's and Andani's and creating war in Accra!, Your economic indicators, your free SHS, your infrastructure are all meaningless if you have to bulldoze everything that has to do with your enemies. Remember Brother Muamar Qaddafi. To him he used the wealth of Lybia to develop it as much as he could. How is Lybia now? Please, ponder
yes npp will not be in power forever because our votes dont count in anyway. if our votes do count, then i dont think u shd have considered coming back again. u guys can continue playing mind games with those who do not want to think. but pls when u are unleashing that violence do not bring it to where I am bcos it wont be pleasant for us all. what is the difference between all die be die and boot for boot?
You dey cry maamaa.Mahama say NDC is the most violent party in Ghana ooo.So you guys they hold that enviable title huh,Now you are saying boot for boot too, Unprincipled talk, irresponsible talk by irresponsible mahatma, tsiaa, answer these questions are you the only stranger in Ghana, where were you in Ghana when Ursula Owusu was beaten mercilessly under the watch of Nii lantey Vanderpuye,I can't think far,you remember Talensi bye election right, violence nkooa ,cowards calling for war,I won't vote for a boot for boot man,you are loosing, you are not Donald trump look hypocrites ,but I condemn violence whether it's from Npp or NDC,you dey call people hypocrites you are first followed by violent NDC,SAM GEORGE I hear entered into the territory leading 15 hoodlums on motor bike, I think Npp beat you to your game shaaasmeee
His BIG STOMACH has corrupted the ***barred word*** opinion leaders* Waiting NPP to deliver before they talk
THANK GOD MAHAMA AND NDC NOW KNOW THAT VIOENCE ISD. IF THEY REALLY MEAN WHAT THEY SAY NOW THEN THEY SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO GHANAIANS ABOUT ALL THEIR VIOLENCE IN THE PAST. SECONDLY THEY SHOULD TELL US OF THE EFFORT THEY ARE MAKING TO WEAN ITSELF FROM VIOENT. WE CAN TRUST THEM AND TAKE THEM SERIOUS IF FAIL TO TAKE THESE ACTIONS.
