NPP New Juabeng North constituency Chairman in the Eastern Region, Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang has asked members of the NDC to stop attacking the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, as their party Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo ordered them to do in his leaked tape.
According to him, the NDC’s propagandist mindset and way of addressing issues have prevented them from analyzing in the right direction any matter put across for discussion.
He said arguments advanced by the largest opposition party against the EC boss are not in line with the EC’s motive to compile a new voter’s register for the next presidential and parliamentary elections.
the New Juabeng North constituency Chairman insisted on UTV's 'Adekye Nsroma' programme that the “EC is an independent body which can decide a matter with its board members before sending it to the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) for further discussion.
The largest opposition party wants the EC to immediately withdraw its "deceptive" communique released at the end of an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of the party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the party has taken a particular notice of a portion of the EC press release which states as follows:- “The Commission will compile a new voters register ahead of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.“
Mr. Asiedu Nketia added that the NDC therefore disassociates itself from the communique and demands it's withdrawal as it is not in consonance with conclusions of the IPAC meeting.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that a fresh Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting will be recalled in the coming days to discuss the compilation of a new voters register.
According to the electoral body, though it concedes there was "no extensive discussion" on the compilation of a new voters register, the issue was still raised at the IPAC meeting, where representatives of the various political parties were duly informed about the possibility of the EC embarking on such an enterprise ahead of the 2020 General Elections.
But responding to the NDC's concerns in an interview with Peacefm News, Deputy Commissioner in Charge of Administration, Dr. Bossman Asare, explained that it was "not a deliberate ploy by the EC to spring anything on the various political parties, nonetheless, the commission will arrange a fresh IPAC meeting", so that the EC and the political parties will have an extensive discussion and deliberations on the compilations of a fresh register.

IN 1992, 2012 NEW VOTERS REGISTER WAS COMPILED. THE NEXT FRESH REGISTER IS DUE IN 2022. WHY IS THE NPP AND THE EC AND THE GOVERNMENT ARE IN HAST TO COMPILE A NEW ONE IN 2019. IS THERE ANY REASON OR JUST TO MISMANAGE THE TAX PAYERS MONEY. IS THAT THE WAY TO MANGE THE PUBLIC PURSE. WHEN EXACTLY WOULD THIS REGISTER BE COMPILED WHEN THE CURRENT ONE IS FIT FOR PURPOSE, AYAWASO BY ELECTION, CREATION OF NEW REGIONS REFERENDUM, DECISION TO ELECT DCES AND THE ASSEMBLY MEN ELECTIONS. SO WHEN WOULD THIS NEW REGISTER BE COMPILED.
I blame Nana for not prosecuting these criminals, so they will continue to harass people trying to serve mother Ghana. Afriye Ankrah and co should be in jail now
WHY IS NPP DEFENDING THE EC BOSS. SI SHE NOT PROFESSIONAL ENOUGH TO DEFEND HERSELF OR BECAUSE NANA ADDO APPOINTED HER AND SO WHAT? SHE IS A CHAIR PERSON OF AN INDEPENDENT BODY, EVERY DECISION SHE TAKES IS BY THE LAWS OF LAND. GHANAIANS DO NOT WANT ANY NPP MEMBER TO DEFEND HER LET ALLOW HER THE ROOM EXECUTE HER TASKS AS AN INDEPENDENT CHAIR-PERSON IN THAT CASE NDC AND WORLD WILL SEE CLASS BETWEEN HER AND SHARLOT OSEI
