Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw says the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has turned Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu into a 'Zombie'.
According to him, Martin Amidu has been idling about for far too long and appears not to be engaged in any meaningful work, years after his appointment.
Maurice Ampaw, in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, expressed disappointment in Amidu saying – “I thought he was a strong man.”
“We’re tired of Martin Amidu. Tell him we are tired of him. He’s been idle for too long. We’ve not seen any action from him yet. He has been turned into a zombie and sitting down without prosecuting any corrupt government official.”
To him, Mr Amidu should resign from his post since the reason for the establishment of the office of Special Prosecutor by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to fight corruption has become a mirage.
“Because of free V8, free bungalow, free AC [air condition] in this toilet, he doesn’t want to resign. What is he doing there?” he questioned.

What sense does it make to wait until election year to start prosecuting people, which will make people read political meaning into it and raise the political temperature which may even rather create the impression of witch hunt and is likely to cause the defeat of the government. You know Ghanaians, they understand things differently. The will say why did he wait this long, and the will make his work irrelevant.
AS THE SAYING GOES BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. IT CAN BE EITHER WAY ie. NOT DOING ANYTHING OR DOING SOMETHING AND BIDDING HIS TIME TO UNLEASH A TKO ON THE CORRUPT OFFICIALS ON BOTH SIDE.
The problem with Amidu is he has a tall list of corrupt NPP government appointee to prosecute and the government is forcing him to do that of the NDC only. He is resisting and that is why it is keeping him long
It looks like the Office of the Special Prosecutor is fit for the Ampaw's. Before Martin was appointed many had tipped the President to appoint Akotow Ampaw for that job. He was bypassed and Martin was chosen. Another Ampaw, precisely Maurice Ampaw is another no ***barred word*** lawyer who speak his mind and could be considered for the job. He is younger, as compare to Akoto and Martin. He is also intelligent and smart but just sometimes reckless and noisyyy. His attack on Martin seems to be shared by many in Ghana. Omanhene, the jounalist, Yaw Boaben and several others have expressed worry about the quietness of Martin. Though the quietness of Martin does not mean inaction, many have rushly concluded to be so. When Martin was speaking many condemned him to be noisyyy and incapable. They challenged him to keep quiet and work. Now he is quiet and working and people are not happy. They may be right because "agro ne fam" The game is on the ground. Every team in a match is judged by the goals they score. Nobody cares about good passes and strategic moves if they cannot earn goals. So Brother Martin, all that your admirers are saying is that they want to see action. They want their Citizen Vigilante made Special Prosecutor to energize his office with action. He should disprove the opinion that vigilantes are good for informal and rough tactics and not fit to follow formal procedure. Dear Martin, we all know about your stand on Western development fund and double salaries of MPs. What has changed since you got an office.?
Citizen vigilante indeed. Now the mouth is full. he cant talk. Incorruptible indeed!
Even without that office, he was fighting wayome. I support maurice he should resign. Is one thing making noise and another thing doing it.
Hey Lawyer, i want to believe that is your opinion. but being a lawyer, i least expected this from you. when you get a client to defend him, do u just sit and go to court on hearing day without researching on the case. and when you are not done on your research, dont you guys plead for adjournment of the case to enable you prepare? pls if you want his office, say it louder. Mr. Amidu is bedeviled with less quality start to do a hard and fight sophisticated crime of the century and you want him to rush and fail so you sit and blame him? After all, we are all suppose to support him to deliver as Ghanaians, LAWYER WHAT DID U DO IN THE FORM OF SUPPORT HON. AMIDU OFFICE? lets stop the talk and give a helping hand.
To be frank, Mr Amidu is wasting our scarce resources. Either he was doing propaganda against NDC or Nana Addo and his government doesn't want him to be himself. It's worrying that such a so called citizen vigilante has now become lazy prosecutor.
