The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa, Deputy Commissioner of the EC in-charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare; Deputy Director in-charge of Operations at the EC, Samuel Tetteh, and other leading officials, on Wednesday, visited the Despite Media Group as part of a familiarisation tour.
This is the first time such a high-powered delegation from the country's electoral body has called upon the Abeka-Junction based media conglomerate.
The EC's delegation was received jointly by Managing Director of the Despite Media Group, Fadda Dickson; the General Manager, Kennedy Osei Asante; Host of Peace FM's flagship 'Kokrokoo' Morning Show, Kwami Sefa Kayi; Head of Productions at UTV, Roger Quartey; Editor of Peacefmonline.com, Nana Kwadwo Asante Agyemang; Peace FM News Editor, Emmanuel Bekoe; Deputy News Editors, Akwasi Agyemang and Yaw Obeng Manu; UTV Deputy News Editor, Vida Adutwuwaa, among others.
The EC team arrived during the airing of PeaceFM's midday news; thus the news team took the opportunity to allow listeners interact with them on-air.
Speaking during an interview on Peace FM's midday news, the EC Chairperson stressed that her outfit will continue to undertake and pursue the right reforms, in the areas of procurement, the Information Technology (IT) Unit, staffing and other aspects of the commission’s work, regardless of the accusations levelled against its officials.
She also disclosed plans by the commission to absorb the cost of media accreditations for election reporting.

Such an intelligent woman to lead ghana's independent electoral commission.. This is the kind of woman well meaning ghanaians need to head this important stste institutionm. Just listen to her eloquence and sense of purpose.. So stunning and amazinmg. God be ypour helper beauty with brains.. The NDC ***barred word*** and nation wreckers can go to hell. Charlotte Osei can't even have .5% of this woman's intelligentsia.. Kudos Madam!
Listening to Jean Mensah and Bossman in particular the seem to assume the posture that the EC leadership is just the two of them. There are about 7 members, so to speak as if the institution is your personnel property is wrong. IPAC MEETING waste your time but you have enough time to go and sit down with peacefm leadership. The is a ploy to rig the 2020 election. Nana addo has closed down stations which can say the truth. Jean mensa is in pact with npp affiliate radio stations. What will happen is that, after the elections Jean mensah want only npp stations to announce results. NDC, you should sit down and watch, 2020 will be like cinema to you. Everything npp, EC and most media stations are doing is toward rigging the 2020 election.
Commenting on this as a Ghanaian citizen, I will be very charitable by saying that this woman is a bloody liar or just some skewed PR person who has decided to twist facts.
1. I know for a fact that the EC has access to its passwords and the "external vendors" as she referred to them never control anything remotely or physically unless the EC asked for its staff to be trained on certain technical components of the system.
2. The "external vendors", again in her words, have even trained from EC head office level down to the polling station levels employees of EC that the EC uses for assignments.
3. What she referred to as cleaning of the biometric devices is not wiping, dusting and boxing only as she puts it. The process involves;
a. Dusting, b, Upgrading or firmware (if need be). c. Renewing licence.
and d. Replacing weak and non-functional devices.
All these again go through a process of quality assurance to make sure the margin of error is very much reduced. This is what made the 2016 elections a better one compared to all other elections held in terms of technical support.
The EC on its own can do all these but issues about software licencing and all that is a matter of copyright and any IT expert will understand why the "external vendor" was still involved".
I personally know very strong and competent IT staff of the EC that has been leaving the process all these while. Just that I will not mention names for any reason. All her arguments are dead on the journey before arriving. With this posture, is she sure all those she is going to recruit are neutral and very clear conscienced? Let us not deceive ourselves all in the name of very little political interest. Ghana is far bigger and more important than any political interest. I am no anti-feminine but I am against a woman leading the EC at this time. They talk too much and the job of the EC chair isn't a PR job. Its that of diplomacy and patriotism.
EI THIS WIFE OF NANA ADDO IS SHOWING SOMETHING OOO! Now EC is visiting radio stations instead of visiting the electorate who are the reason for elections to explain to them EC's plans. What has EC got to do at radio stations?

This EC boss is a joke. Does she know she has a lot of work to do? Where is her communication director? Tsuuuuiaaaa....we are all watching.
