A group calling itself Volunteers for "JP 2020", a non-partisan grouping in the Hohoe Constituency in the Volta Region is calling on Mr John Peter Amewu, Minister of Energy to represent the constituency in Parliament.
The group said though previous Members of Parliament for the area had contributed in diverse ways to the development of the constituency, a "more competent and dynamic personality" was needed to bring radical development to Hohoe.
Mr. George Dogbey, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group at a press conference in Hohoe said the sharp political division in the constituency between the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party had done a lot of harm to the people than good.
He said the divisions had triggered disenchantment and polarisation of the constituency, which was affecting the rapid socioeconomic development of the area and needed to change.
Mr Dogbey said the group's main aim was to "come together to bridge the divide and fight for the overall good of our constituency."
He said the commitment of Mr. Amewu to the Hohoe Constituency in education, sports development, job creation among others as a Minister of State and a former Municipal Chief Executive was unmatched and needed to be given the opportunity to represent the constituency in Parliament.
Mr Dogbey said if politics was about development and what social amenities an individual could engineer, then Mr Amewu had no competitor.
He therefore appealed to the constituents to support and accept Mr Amewu, as a development agent, a visionary and a unifier to represent them.
Mr. Amewu who made an unsuccessful bid for the parliamentary seat in 2004 is yet to make any public pronouncement on the subject but indications were that the Minister for Energy is in pole position to contest.

This is why I like the people of Hohoe, that part of Ghana vote for the ndc but they don't see themselves as ndc first but Ghana first! if every constituency in Ghana will search for development oriented than political oriented most areas would have developed and Ghana moved forward ! Hon. PJ Amewu has exhibited honesty with hardwork to give honour to his people and I'm glad his people are proud of him! Hon. PJ Amewu was excellent as Minister for lands and natural resources and perfect as minister for energy such are the people Ghana need not create, l00*00t and share, arrogance and insults which bring shame to one's people! PJ we love you but Ghana loves you best ! John Mahama learn from Hon. PJ Amewu who has given his people cause to be proud and need him to represent them. Every Ghanaian talk good about him.Very principled, honest and hardworking!
