The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has asked government to pay attention to some issues being raised by the Homeland Study Group Foundation, a secessionist group fighting for the independence of the then Western Togoland from Ghana.
The Military has invaded Ho in the Volta region and has evacuated some 21 persons including a lady believed to be receiving military training from the secessionists group.
The 'recruits' according to reports were rounded up in a dawn operation by the military following weeks of surveillance.
Reacting to this development on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt urged all to come on board to deal with the issue to avoid it escalating.
According to him, secessioning is not a solution to any problem.
"It is not a solution to lack of development, it is not a solution to non-integration. . . " he said while admitting that the Volta region has been neglected for some time.
He further indicated that there are reasons being given by the group which are true and that there will be the need for government to deal with it.
"We should not start a war, war is not the solution to the problem . . . it is true that Volta region has been neglected for some time, for a very long time Volta region has not had its fair share of development, that is an issue we have to address. If you do that their propaganda collapses . . . there are major issues that need national attention," he pointed out.

Many atime we try to ignore relevant issues for our own selfish interest. Kwesi Pratt has come out publicly to condemn these people. It now seem to him that the issue is getting out of hand. He now realizes his mistakes of the past and have seen that despite his disagreement, the people are making headway, as the saying goes, if you can't beat them, be one with them. Even earlier this week, he denied commenting on this issue and brought in a different agenda on air. I see that he wants the issue be addressed for once for it's been here with us even before Nkrumah's time.
This kwesi pratt man is ***barred word***

This Kwesi Pratt is a half baked jourmalist who does not research scientifically, the political history and the present situation in Ghana. Please stop practising journalsim and stop your wrtitings and your participation of political debates in Ghana. You are not a mentor to the ghanaian youth who are aspiring to read and practice journalism in Ghana and Africa. Your participation in political and economic debates in the country, portrays your lack of intelectual and scientific research. Your practising of journalism in Ghana is not a model for the ghanaian youth. I am sorry! You really need to make an effort to improve yournalist skills.
There are dozens if not hundreds of secession movements around the world. The people who make up these movements are denied their voices by the established governments in the exclusive private club called the United Nations. Many of the governments that make up the UN are unelected, run by dictators or regimes that have no legitimacy. But even those governments that are democratically elected by majorities of voters in the regions they control almost always oppose secession. Why? Because those in charge of governments are typically power addicts seeking to maintain or increase their own power, or greedy opportunists seeking wealth. They do not want to decrease the land area or number of people under their control, because this would decrease their power and lessen their ability to profit from their government positions. So they prioritize their own pathological self-interest over allowing people their independence. The supporters of independence, from Western Togoland to Tibet to Chechnya to Somaliland to Miskitu to Catalonia need to unite and support each other's causes. By themselves we are weak, but united we can force the United Nations to listen, and win our independence. All people have the right to self-governance and self-determination, and when a majority of people in any region wants that region to become an independent political jurisdiction, they have the right to secede and take the land of the region in which they live with them.
Kwasi can we have peace of mind? Is your own home town and for that matter region developed? What kind of cheap talk is that. Another opportunity to stage huge demo.
Kwesi Rat paa? What kinda nansins is he talking about? Which Region is developed? Rawlings was in power for 19yrs. It was an NDC stronghold for another 8yrs. Total is 27yrs. What did the NDC do for them? They can secede for all we care. Ayigbefuo mb*a!
VOLTA REGION IS ONE OF THE MOST FORTUNATE IN THE COUNTRY. IF ONE SINCERELY EVALUATE THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE ENTIRE NATION, REGION BY REGION. THEY HAVE BETTER SCHOOLS, ROADS, HEALTH FACILITIES, AND HUMAN CAPACITY FAR MORE THAN MANY OF THE OTHER REGIONS. IF ONE TRAVEL TO WESTERN REGION, WESTERN NORTH, CENTRAL REGION, UPPER EAST, UPPER WEST, IN FACT EVERYWHERE. EVEN THE ASANTE REGION THE HEART OF GHANA ECONOMY. GO TO A LETTLE BEYOND OBUASI THE LARGEST DEPOSIT OF GOLD. THE SURROUNDING VILLAGES OF OBUSI HAS NO TARED ROADS. THE ARGUMENT OF KWESI PRATT IS ONLY FULL OF MISCHIEF. I HOPE THE PARLIAMENTARIANS WHO COME FROM VARIOUS REGIONS OF GHANA WITH POOR INFRASTRUCTURES WILL ALL STAND UP TO CONDEMN SUCH DIVISIVE COMMENTARIES OF PRATT. IF SECESSION IN VOLTA CAN BE JUSTIFIED THEN EVERY GROUP AND REGION IN GHANA CAN BE JUSTIFIED TO SECEDE. RIGHT ACROSS FROM NZIMA LAND, ENCHI AOWIN, SEFWI, AHAFO, BANDA, LAWRA, DARGATIS, KANJAGAS, GRUSIS, KUSASIS, BASARES, CHOKOSIS, GRUMAS, NCHUMURUS, AMANFIS, FIASEAS, THE TWIFUS, DENKYIRAS, ODOTOBIRIS,KOTOKUS, KWAEBIBREMS, AMANSIES KWAME DANSOS, AFRAM PLAINS, ALL OF THESE HAVE SERIOUS CHALLENGES. MANY A TIME WE CONSIDER THE BOARDER REGIONS WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO HINTERLANDS, AS THE ONLY UNDER DEVELOPED AND FORGET ABOUT OTHERS. DEEP WITHIN GHANA THERE ARE MANY UNDEVELOPED PLACES. JUST TRY TO TRAVEL FROM TARKWA TO OBUSI TRU DUNKWAW. IT IS DISINGENOUS FOR A PERSON LIKE PRATT WHO IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW BETTER TO PASS SUCH COMMENTS.ONE CAN EASILY CONCLUDE THAT HE IS EITHER IGNORAMUSSS OR MISCHIEVOUSSS.
"He said while admitting that the Volta region has been neglected for some time". Hear Kwesi Pratt the hypocrite. The Trans Volta Togoland stretches through parts of Oti, Bimbilla, Yendi, Bunkpurugu, Garu-Tempani and Pusiga. It does not even include the southern part of Volta Region Like Ho, Ketu, Anlo, Tongu. Strangely we only hear of these secessionists only when NPP is in power. Where were they between 1981 to 1992, 1993-2000, 2009-2016? Kwesi PRATT has lost his sense of history and political relevance. He's now becoming a disgraze to his generation.
People should not bother to reply to Kwesi Rat, he does not make sense anymore.
