Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei who has been out of the country for months now has penned down a hilarious but important letter to the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The actor who published the open letter to the first gentleman of the land on instagram reminded him of the many promises he gave the industry when campaigning ahead of the 2016 general election.
He said the creative arts industry has benefited almost nothing after he was sworn into power.
According to him, actors and bloggers in the country have all turned models wasting their time on photoshoots instead of shooting movies and this is happening because they are all idle.
Read Prine David Osei’s letter to president Nana Addo below:
“4th Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo. Please Sir,make haste I beseech you to fulfil some of the promises you made to the creative art industry,I know it’s just 100days and so far so good but the truth is we the movie players/actors/producers/bloggers etc are more like idle now, rather than shoot movies that we are noted for, all we doing these days is photo shoot put on social media and since there’s not much to be done,bloggers/journalist too don’t have much content but to post this pictures and write *Hot Shot*by blabla I didn’t know every actor and blogger in Ghana was a model until now,our industry is not prolific and active anymore, the whole celebrity status has been polarized, everyone is a celebrity in Ghana now. ..Thank You his Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo I believe in your dream that’s why I campaigned for Change and for you….. Thank you Sir…Prince David Osei @nakufoaddo

Please someone tell the MP for Trobu constituency Moses Anim That we at Asofan new area from the Zion Church down are cut off from the rest of Ghana because of bad roads. The road has virtually worn off making it a real death trap. It has become terribly bad for both pedestrians and drivers. The constituents there are just sitting on time bomb. Honourable Moses Anim don't wait till something bad happens before you visit the constituency with fake sympathies or when you need votes. Please rise to your call. Thank you.
Movie Industry has no structures. First fix your home then ask for help.
this guy is ***barred word*** u can write letters but u cant pay rent u took a house very neat one and messed it up broken doors broken air conditions locks no painting u damaged a new house given to u u are hear talking about promises come and pay for ur rent and renovate the house before u talk about promises
Just blend urselves with the kumawood guys and things will go on smoothly and aside that Nana will address everything one after the other so kindly wait till next year cos he need to provide jobs for the people who will buy the movies before addresing to the arts problem cos if he does ur first the people who will buy wil be jobless and wont get cash to buy the movies so RELAX
Nana is not a magician,so take time
Dear Prince, its very true that Nana made some promises to the creative arts industry but am not sure Nana is the right person to approach now. A minister has bn appointed and am sure she's working arrnd the clock to come to ur aid. Am glad u said in ur letter that Nana is doing well in jx five months. Be a lil patient with him and his appointees and ur concerns will soon be adressed. Ur industry will need electricity to produce ur movies and ur consumers cant buy ur movies if they dont have money in their pockets, and they cant watch ur movie if our electricity problems r not solved. God bless
Nana should expedite the implementation of film act which has been passed by previous government,so as to make funds available for film productions there by creating jobs...Prince is only reminding the president of the promise he made in his manifesto..simple as that
So what exactly do you want the president to do for the film industry, find you good script writers, good actors and good film crew, or give your V8's(wink wink John Dumelo) speak up David because Nana Addo is not a mind reader. And what was Nana's promise for the film industry?
I didnt get it.....do you want Nana Addo to bring to ur house ...the camera , costume and everything u need to shoot a movie?...come again.
David, the truth is that the market is now with Kumawood. People are more interested in issues of our everyday society rather than the fairy-tale Ghallywood stories. On the other hand, Ghana has 36% literacy rate which is the market the English movies competes in. The 64% illiterates love everything in their language and most of the 34% literates speaks Twi and will add to Kumawood Market anyway. Have you ever tot of how great Ghana Movies would be if we have great minds like Shirly Frimpong Manson, Abdul Salam, etc., all joining forces to blend you guys (Accra Based Actors/Actresses) with the Kumawood guys? This would help to fish out the chaff in the system and Ghana Movies would be second to none in Africa. But what do we see? People in Accra sees themselves high and above the Kumawood guys (aside Van Vicker, Kofi Adjololo,Michele & few others) all because of that little English which you have diluted with LAFA (Locally Acquires Foreign Accent). I hope Kofi Asamoah will continue the good job he has began. Me for instance, I will watch Kumawood and laugh my stress off than to watch them Ghallywood Movies. I hope you guys will seek to unite as this will be the way forward to a vibrant Ghana Movie Industry.
