The Porcupine Warriors coach slams GPL referees, labelling them as "a joke" after failing to win the league title.
Asante Kotoko caretaker coach Michael Osei has blamed referees for his side's poor run of matches in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors failed to reclaim the title, placing fifth on the log despite a 2-1 win over Wafa on the league’s final day at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“The season has been very bad and there are a lot of factors that have contributed to that," Osei told Nhyira FM.
“As a coach, I don’t like to talk about officiating but during the second round, the referees were very bad and their actions were a joke to me. Because we were a favourite to clinch the league title but due to poor performance from referees, it didn’t work.
“I know the season is over and I will admit that and as a young coach, I have learnt many things and I am hoping to do better next season," he added.
Kotoko couldn't progress past the semi-finals of the FA Cup also, after they were stunned 5-4 on penalties at home by eventual winners Bechem United.

I had wanted to give my opinion, @Kofi 'do all' Thanks for your view.
Very disappointed in Mike Osei and his technical Team for this abysmal performance. Its obvious that Opoku Nti and the management Team have failed miserably in uplifting the flag of Fabulous! This was a league that if Kotoko had been in a good shape, could have won it hands down! Leadership was porous, visionless, clueless and unimaginative. I humbly appeal to Opoku Nti to go to the Manhyia Palace to hand over the Team to the owner so that a better management could be task to handle the Team. If you can't even win a match in Kumasi, how do you win the league? If Ali Maradona could boost on radio that a little fall in the 18 on the field by a kotoko player will earn a penalty for the club, how do you win the league? All the players must bow their heads in shame for bringing the high reputation of the club into dispute!
If you have learnt your lessons keep quiet and re-strategise. Don't put the blame on any official. Thank God you have not been sacked and stop the too bee too beee!
