The Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, must, as a matter of urgency, resolve any differences between him and the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi in the interest of Ghana football, Yaw Boateng Gyan, an ex-Black Stars Management member, has said.
There have been exchanges between Mr Vanderpuye and Mr Nyantakyi recently following the Ministry’s refusal to release funds to the association to enable the national teams prepare for crucial assignments. In September, the Sports Ministry failed to pay for the flight of Black Stars players to Ghana to honour their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda, and has also scrapped winning bonuses for executive members of the Black Stars management committee.
Speaking in connection with this development in an interview with Accra Sports on Thursday October 6, Mr Gyan, who was also National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said: “If you (Nii Lantey Vanderpuye) have problems with some of them (GFA Executives), find ways of settling those matters so that the issue will not affect our football in the country. When that happens, Ghanaians will not forgive him.”
He added: “I have told him several times that we need to find ways to patch whatever differences exist between the two of them.”
