The Chairman of the Black Stars Management Team, and Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, says he is unable to explain why the Black Stars failed to win the just-ended 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars once again failed to end their 35-year trophy drought after crashing out 2-0 to Cameroon at the semi-final stage of the just-ended competition.
The Stars went on to lose the bronze medal after Burkina Faso defeated Ghana by a lone goal last Saturday.
Speaking to the media, George Afriyie said he has no reasonable excuse for the failed attempt.
“I have nothing much to say. What I know it that these boys and everyone gave of their best but It was just not meant to be”.
Asked if Ghana’s failure was down to technical and tactical ineptitude, the GFA Vice President said “I am not a technical person, so I wish that you will direct that question to the technical people.”
The Black Stars latest failed attempt has led to condemnation and massive calls back home that changes are needed at the helm of the FA and the playing body of the team.
With the Black Stars are in danger of missing out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, it is expected that Avram Grant will not be allowed to stay on as coach.
Other changes to the technical team and Management team will be effected in the coming weeks.

Well, we need home grown Coaches and each player must be made to sign to receive their remuneration after the end of each tournament or all remuneration is to be paid electronically via a financial institution. 1. This ensures the coach has some control over the players 2. Coaches must have leeway in managing players. 3. Minsters must respect Coaches and allow them to do their jobs. Coaches performance are to be evaluated at the end of their contract. 4. We must accept loses just as we yearn for wins. 5. We must develop other sports not just the BLACK STARS.
Asamoah Gyan is the only potent striker, and if he fails to deliver, or if he does not play in any match, Ghanaians sit on thorns. We need to train more quality strikers. We have to give other lesser known strikers the chance to prove themselves. As it stands now, Ghanaians should forget qualifying for the next world cup tourney.
Ghaians still do not get !!!!!!!; the Black Stars players are not playing for the love of Ghana ; they just play because it is easy money for them ; the likes of Asamoah Djan; Ayew and others are well to do players but what do they do ? ; they all wait for their monies before they choose to play ; look at what happened in Brazil ; $3million cash carried in chareted plane just to appease these youless players and the the cash is stolen by Elvis Afri Ankrah ; there are players fighting for cash but in other counteries they play for love and determination and are always want to win cups for their nations not the uless BLackstatrs who never win any thing but always play for money !!!!!!; the worse is that you have the GFA headed by another northner thiff Nyantakyi a kriminal with his hands in the money TILL stilling and fulling Ghanaians that he is doing a great job ; when was the last time Ghana won a cup ; so many years ago I cannot rememeber but how much money have we poured unto the Blackstars ? ; the worse is that they go out and employ this Israeli uless coach Avram Grant who never stays in Ghana but chooses to pay 'NOKOFIO;' to Nyantakyi so he can run around in europe ; the man even never stays in Ghana but we pay for his expenses ; WHAT AN EDIOTIC CONFUSED NATION OF FULLA !!!!!!AND DONKEYS !!!!!
If anyone thinks these chaps at the helm of affairs have the Black Stars in mind that person may be in a dreamland. They are they to stuff their wallets. Why is it that these chaps failed to to help solve the issues about allowances and even with their support, the players out-rightly rejected a bonus of $8,000 only to accept a further cut in the figure when the new administration came into office? If this was not hypocrisy, then I don't know how to described it. The entire structure must be dissolved for a whole new entity.
THEIR DEMEANOR WHEN THEY LOST TO BURKINA FASO WAS A SO 'REFRESHING' TO WATCH. I HAVE LEANED MY LESSONS. IN ESSENCE, THERE WAS NOTHING AT STAKE TO PLAY FOR.
who said explanation is needed at this point, we all know what happened and has bn happening for years. football trading center at the expense of our hearts. He shuld keep his explanation, it will take a looooooooong time for them to get our hearts crushed again.we thank them.
No problem,God will see us. Our support is also not meant to be but the huge monies you collect is meant to be right? What do they take us for?
