Ghana Football Association Referees Appointment Committee chairman Eddy Doku is livid at referee Joseph Lamptey's life ban by Fifa for match manipulation.
Lamptey has been indefinitely suspended from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level for "unlawfully influencing the match result" during the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Senegal on November 12 last year.
The Ghanaian was earlier slapped with a three-month ban by Caf for the incident at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
''I just read the communique from Fifa and after reading it, I don't think that I'm happy with the decision of Fifa to hand Joseph Lamptey a life ban,'' Doku told Boss FM.
''I'm not a lawyer but I know that you cannot punish someone twice for one offence.
"He accepted a three-month suspension earlier on by Caf, so why another life ban? Is it because we are blacks?
''We have seen worse officiating in some of the European and Fifa competitions, but no referee was given a life ban. I don't think it's the best.''
In the fateful game, the Ghanaian awarded a penalty to the Bafana Bafana for a handball by Kalidou Koulibaly, but TV replays showed that the ball came off the defender's knees.
Thulani Hlatshwayo converted the resulting penalty, which gave the home side a 43rd-minute lead, the match eventually ending 2-1 in favour of South Africa.
Senegal subsequently lodged an official complaint to Caf and Fifa against the immigration officer.
In 2011, Lamptey was handed a six-month ban by Caf for allowing a controversial goal in a Caf Champions League game between Esperance of Tunisia and Al Ahly of Egypt.

***barred word***...... your black and so what? Ghanaian referees should stop taking bribes to effect the outcome of soccer games period. Instead of address and finding solution to the problem of officials taking bribes, this ***barred word*** is playing the victim game. Look at what happened at the Hearts/Kotoko game last Sunday and you expect FIFA and CAF to take our corrupt referees serious.
I won't support the idea of Fifa banning the Ghanaian referee because our own referees don't perform well in matches both in Ghana as well as the world but at times race also counts. Just think of the recent match between PSG of France and Barcelona of Spain, the referee was biased against PSG but nothing serious happen to the referee. My question is, are whites better than blacks?
The German ref who handled the Barca v PSG match should also get life ban. Period!
Stop playing the race card .You cad.Ghanaian referees are a total disgrace to the country. How many of them are invited for international games these days?Look at what happened at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday. These people together with the FA are killing the game .The Accra Sports Stadium was half empty In a match between Kotoko and Hearts? These days most young people prefer to watch the English Premier League Sometimes you watch one of these local matches and you wonder if it's kindergarten kids playing football.Kick and everybody follows. That's what it is.
This heading ('is it because we are blacks?') is the phrase I hate most in my life. It simply kills me. We play the race card whenever our incompetence is exposed. Instead of learning and improving, we think ''it is because we are blacks'', and therefore, in the end, we don't acknowledge the real reason why we suffer what this referee has suffered. Every honest Ghanaian who follows football knows how bad our referees perform.I always wonder: what would the world have said if (i) the hutus were white and tutsis were blacks? (ii) if West Germany were white and east Germany were black? (ii) if hitler was white and the jews were blacks...
We should be clapping for FIFA. Lamptey deserves jail if you ask me
Some of the officiating decisions by our referees are so absurd. There was no slight imagination that the ball hit the hand but because of a prejudice mind he whistled for a penalty. Just look at the decision of the referee btn hearts and kotoko. they need to sit up.
This is a new administration of FIFA and the precedent has been set for all referees to watch out. You need not be happy but ashamed.
Always playing the race card.
i want to know if SO CALL FIFA HAS EVER BAN A WHITE REFEREE. I WANT TO CHALLENGE FIFA TO DO THE SAME TO OTHER WHITE REFEREES.
