Accra-based referee Samuel Sukah maintains he was right with his penalty call against Kotoko in last Sunday’s League game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Referee Sukah has been the talking point in the last two days following a controversial penalty awarded to Hearts of Oak in the derby clash.
The St. Thomas Acquinas teacher claimed Samuel Yeboah’s shot had struck the arms of Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams who had thrown in his body to block a shot from the edge of the penalty box.
His call eventually saw Hearts of Oak winning the Super 2 clash to end the eight-year jinx of failing to beat Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking an interview with Peace FM, the renowned Ghanaian match official insisted his decision was legitimate.
“What is a dubious penalty, I don’t understand why they call the penalty a dubious one, it was a right decision I took,” he said.
“I was standing few meters away from the scene, why would I cheat any of the two sides especially when I know what it entails when it comes to games between the two teams.
“The defender threw his body and the ball struck his arm.
“I am a Christian and in my religion forbid cheating therefore I wouldn’t do that, so that decision I took was the right decision.”
Kotoko are said to be planning on appealing the yellow card issued to defender Ahmed Adams.

I was not expecting you to say it was a wrong call. I will have been hugely surprise. Please leave God out of this. I was to ask you this, Did Ahmed Adams use his hand to prevent the ball or the ball hit his hand ? Answer this.
Guys, the result of the match is not the debating point, the performance of the referee is. He appears not even to know the rule of foul play. The ball striking a player's hand in the box is not necessarily a penalty. The playing handling or hitting the ball is. The question is, did the player move his arm to strike or handle the ball? The referee does not know how it is to interpret the rule.
GOD WILL PUNISH YOU FOR BRINGING HIS NAME INTO YOUR CORRUPT ACTIVITIES. WAIT FIFA IS OBSERVING YOU . YOUR DAY WILL COME ONE DAY
SO THIS SUKAH MAN IS TELLING US THAT WHAT WE HAVE ALL SEEN LIVE, ON TV AND OTHER VIDEOS ARE ALL FAKED. HOPELESS REFEREEING IN GHANA. AND WE HAVE AN FA LOOKING ON SHEEPISHLY. NO WONDER FIFA HAS BANNED OUR SO CALLED LEAD REFEREE. ROGUES ALL OVER.
Let even grant you what you're saying that the ball hit his hand; it still couldn't be a penalty. The guy was down with his hands besides him in a natural position and if the ball hit his hand, it would be a ball to hand which is not a foul. It's every ball that hits the hand is a foul. Go back to school and learn the rules of the game before are allowed back on the filed as a referee. This one of the reasons why FIFA doesn't give much equity about Ghana referees. Most of them take bribes to effect the game. Referee Lamptey is ban for life by FIFA and this FIFA action speaks loud about the state of officiating in Ghana soccer. Bribes are killing Ghana soccer period. Most of the disappointed fan may not return to the stadiums for a long time. Hearts supporters couldn't even jubilate after the game and that says volume about how the game was won. If referee Lamptey is the best among Ghana referees, then, God saves Ghana soccer. There were no Ghanaian referee on the 2017 CAF tournament; very shameful indeed. CAF is proven right. The association made the correct call for not inviting any referee from Ghana. I applaud CAF.
IF SUKER SAYS HE IS RIGHT AND HE ADDED GOD'S NAME TO WHAT HE IS SAYING THE GOOD LORD IS NOT A ***barred word***. I am telling him if you lie before God is your own cup of tea. If what you are saying is worry than don't cross the Dansu river till you die or you will;;;;;;
LEAVE THE REFREE ALONE. KOTOKO MUST LEARN TO ACCEPT DEFEAT. THEY HAVE COME TO WIN GAMES HERE IN ACCRA SOME WETRE VERY DUBIOS BUT WE ALL ACCEPTED IT. ASK THE SMALL CLUBS AND SEE HOW THEY ARE ALWAYS CHEATED. LETS ALLOW THINGS TO MOVE.
Sukah is a very ***barred word*** referee for still throwing dust into the viwers of the hearts kotoko match.he should clear off.God will judge him.
Has he watched the clip afterwards? Why is he bringing God into this because even a child can tell from the video that it was not a hand ball so he should be bold enough to admit he erred and move on.
Listen to this potbelly pork of a referee
