Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Monday opened its 157th branch in Nungua in the Greater Accra Region as part of a three-prong approach to expand its services nationwide.

The strategy include opening of new branches in strategic locations with a potentially large customer base, rehabilitation of some existing branches and also enhance services throughout the country.

"No wonder Nungua was given premier consideration under this strategy, " Mr Lawrence Adu-Mante, Managing Director of the bank said at the opening of the branch, which he noted had sealed the long standing relationship GCB had established with the community.

"GCB has had a long standing relationship with the township of Nungua. Our relationship dates back as 1961 when we chose the serenity of Nungua as the location for the Bank's Training School, which continues to be accessed by both local and international institutions for training of bankers from the sub-region."

Mr Adu-Mante said all branches of the bank are networked to offer one-stop banking services.

"Our aim is to provide the same platform for the offering of diverse products and services including internet-based ones with convenience as the over-riding factor.

"Today GCB can boast of 157 branches and 11 agencies and numerous products including GCB_Mastercard, the card with global access."

Mrs Aku MacBruce GCB Area Manager for Tema Zone said as part of the "We serve you better", slogan, services at the Nungua branch would be seen and felt by the people.

Mr Samuel Sarpong, Deputy Managing Director in charge of Operations, who chaired the function said the bank was not just opening new branches but also changing the ways of doing things to serve the people better.

He said the bank would organise a customer appreciation forum next year to reward cherished customers.
