Users of laptops, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Smart phones can now watch DSTV channels most especially the Barclays Premier League on their compatible gadgets wherever they go, provided they buy Drifta.
The Drifta also connects through the USB.
The Country Manager for DSTV Mobile, Edward Owusu, giving an insight into the workings of this latest DSTV innovation on Peace FM, expounded that the Drifta is a mobile TV decoder that receives the DVB-H signal and converts it into Wi-Fi signal for Wi-Fi enabled viewing devices adding that subscribers could watch selective channels at anywhere and anytime.
According to him, subscribers of the new product will get to watch GTV and Metro TV for free, whiles subscribers of the mini bouquet will be privileged to enjoy ten DSTV channels including CNN, Africa Magic Plus, Cartoon Network, Channel O, BET, Trace and other selected channels for a fee of GH 7 per month.
For lovers of football, Mr. Eddie Owusu indicated that there was a package to suit them as well. He noted that a maxi bouquet, comprising Super Sports 9, Super Sports 10 and Blitz was available for them to watch live European matches for a fee of GH 17 a month.
But perhaps, the most refreshing news was that subscribers of the DSTV premium package will get to enjoy Super Sports 3 for FREE as soon as they purchased the DSTV Drifta.
The Super Sports 3 has been made as valued added product for DSTV premium subscribers, he said.
He however explained that for now because they have been able to mount a few transmitters in the country, service is available to only people in these areas (Accra and Tema).
We only have four transmitter sites at Tema, Weija, Legon and Ridge Towersbut there are plans to extend the transmissions to other parts of the country including Kumasi and Takoradi, Eddie Owusu said.
