We fully agree with Mr. Yaw Osafo Marfo, former Minister of Finance that the Mills administration must be commended for stabilizing the cedi and more.
Over the last three months the value of the cedi has been appreciating gradually in spite of the turbulence on the international scene.
Even as we know that the stability of the cedi will not automatically lead to the resolution of the many side economic problems confronting the people of Ghana, we accept the development as an important step forward.
Both importers and exporters can now plan better because the needless speculation over the strength and weaknesses of the national currency will be minimized.
The Insight urges the Mills administration to take bold steps to ensure that the resources of Ghana are controlled by Ghanaians and used to resolve their social and economic problems.
It ought to take strong measures against multinational corporations and their local agents who have been plundering the national economy for far too long.
We salute President Mills and his team.
