A Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Justice D.W.P. Amedior has imposed fines totaling GH¢620.00 on four drivers arrested for various traffic offences.
The offences included not carrying spares tyres, driving vehicles without reflectors and fire extinguishers, expired driver licenses, road worthiness and insurance covers, reckless driving and causing road obstruction.
They paid fines ranging between GH¢120.00 and GH¢300.00. They would go in for six months in default of the payment.
The offending drivers, Stephen Owusu, Evans Kwakye Marfo, George Oduro and Frank Obeng Poku, all pleaded guilty.
Police Inspector Kwabena Frimpong told the court that they were arrested in and around the Kumasi Metropolis by officers of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) as part of efforts to bring down road accidents.
