An Accra circuit court on Thursday remanded one Samson Brug, a musician, for defiling a 10-year old girl.

Samson was said to have defiled the girl around New Bortianor near Weija. He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was remanded by the court.

He is to reappear on December 10.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant, Maxwell Larbi, resides at New Bortianor in Weija with his10-year old granddaughter, who is the victim, while Samson also lives in the same area.

She said on November 13, the victim who is supposed to return from school around 1530 hours failed to do so and upon fruitless search for her, a report was made to the police.

The prosecution said on the same day at about 2215 hours, one Ivy Larbi, a witness in the case, who stays in the same house with the victim, heard some unusual noise inside their house, and so came out and saw the victim standing in the compound.

She told the court that Ivy called the complainant and when the victim was interrogated, she said that a certain “rastaman” kept her in an uncompleted building and had sex with her after which he scaled her through the fence wall into the compound.

ASP Boafo said a report was made to the police, and a medical form was issued for the victim to be sent to the hospital.

The endorsed medical form of the victim confirmed that she had been defiled.

She said the victim later led the police to identify the accused person and he was arrested.

Samson, however, denied the offence in his caution statement.
