A police officer whose name was only given as Corporal Charles has allegedly beaten a cab driver, Meshach Armah to pulp at Gomoa Akotsi-Ojobi in the Central Region Tuesday afternoon.

Vice Chairman for Gomoa Akotsi – Ojobi bus station, Francis Opoku who disclosed the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the police officer stationed at Senya Breku but on duty at the Kasoa police station subjected the taxi driver to severe beating after the driver failed to give him GHC100 he requested.

The police officer, he noted was demanding GHC100 from the driver for wrongful parking but the driver failed to give out the money.

“The police officer demanded money from the driver which he refused and then after some few minutes, the police officer came back to beat the driver mercilessly” he said.

The victim, he noted is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, some of angry taxi drivers who stormed the Gomoa Ojobi police station have threatened to beat up the police officer if the IGP fails to sanction him duly.

“If the matter isn’t settled properly we will take the matter into our own hands and deal with the police man. We know him and he is fond of that behavior. He is just like a police armed robber. He should be dealt with otherwise we will do it to him next time we see him…” they warned.

The Ojobi district Police Commander, ASP David Osei Foffie told Kofi Adjei his outfit has begun investigations into the matter and promised justice will be served.
