The Kwahu East District Assembly has cut the sod for the commencement of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for the Nkwatia SDA Primary School.
The project is to help create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
It was awarded to Wenjay Constructions Limited and is expected to be completed in six months and would consist of a headteacher’s office, store room and washrooms.
At a sod cutting ceremony, Mr Isaac Agyapong, the Kwahu East District Chief Executive promised government’s continuous support in providing quality education for the people in the district and gave the assurance that all communities under the assembly would have their fair share of government’s development projects.
Mr Agyapong explained that the Assembly chose the Nkwatia SDA School because the school was holding classes in a dilapidated school block that had not seen major renovation for many years.
He announced that the Assembly would introduce the School Feeding Programme in the school to help increase enrolment.
Nana Odei Tutu II, the Krontihene of Kwahu- Nkwatia applauded the Assembly for extending development projects to the area but pleaded for a public toilet in the area to help deal with open defecation.
He urged the community members to monitor the project to ensure its early completion.
