Six University of Cape Coast (UCC) scholars are included in the World's Top 2% Scientists published in 2023 by Stanford University in the US in collaboration with Elsevier Publishing.

This recognition acknowledges the research and academic strengths of UCC scholars, and the impact that each of them has made on both academia and society aside the University’s collective effort resulted in maintaining its position for three consecutive years as best ranked university in Ghana and West Africa and among Top 10 in Africa by Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking.

Stanford University's assessment, Version 6, relied on Scopus author profiles as of October 1, 2023, to compile this elite list across diverse scientific fields. Their evaluation criteria encompassed various metrics such as citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.

The distinguished UCC scholars who made it onto this prestigious list include Prof. David Teye Doku, recognized for Public Health and Clinical Medicine; Prof. Anokye Mohammed Adam, honoured in Economics, Computational Mathematics & Business; Prof. AdeladzaKofi Amegah, esteemed in General and Clinical Medicine; Prof. Martins Ekor, acknowledged in Toxicology and Clinical Medicine; Dr. Justice Mensah, acclaimed for Education and Social Science; and Dr. Andreas Adutwum Kudom, distinguished in Tropical and Clinical Medicine.

In total, 46 research scholars from fifteen teaching and research institutions in Ghana earned a place among the world's top 2% scientists as recognized by Stanford University.
