Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), has thrown his weight behind the Free SHS bill, a proposal to make the policy a law in the country.
According to sources, the aim of the bill is to provide a legal framework to guide the policy from abuse or attempts to repeal it under any government.
But the Minority in Parliament has opposed the bill, citing various reasons why it may be irrelevant.
Nana Boakye, speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, called out the Minority stressing “their behaviour and actions show they are against Free SHS...when you listen to the NDC MPs, you will see they are very jittery”.
To him, the bill is a good thing to strengthen the Free SHS policy, therefore questions the logic in the Minority's objection.
"We have Free SHS Secretariat, so we need to capture it in the law to give it the needed legal framework," Nana B told Nana Yaw Kesseh.
However, the bill has not yet been laid before Parliament.
