The Government is pursuing a policy to ensure the utilization of local raw materials in the building and construction industry.
The policy, which was accepted by Cabinet in 2009, has been extensively developed in a three-phase action plan, which is currently being implemented.
The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Joe Oteng Agyei, who disclosed this said the implementation of the policy started in 2011, when the Government released more than GH� 500,000.00 for the documentation of cost effective improved technologies for the production of bricks, compressed earth blocks and pozzolana cement, as well as the development and provision of standard codes for the design of building materials.
