Dr Callistus Mahama, head of Local Government Services, has tasked officials of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to be innovative and resolute in solving the problems of their areas.
“We must think out of the box to meet our collective mandate of developing our various districts,” Dr Mahama said at the outdooring of the Local Government Service’s cloth at Dodowa.
He explained that due to the uniqueness of every district, there was the need to use appropriate and specific means suitable to the locality to achieve revenue targets and implement developmental projects.
Dr Mahama, however, noted that MMDAs must also observe required standards despite adopting creativity in the discharge of their duties.
He called on staff of Assemblies to reflect and rededicate themselves to their respective communities to right the wrong perception about the public service.
Mr Julius Debrah, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, reiterated the need for innovation in local governance due to the irregular flow of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
Mr Debrah said “to achieve this, we must all begin to see ourselves as small governments and take decisions that will improve our districts”.
