Alhaji Mohammed Ibn-Abass, District Chief Executive for Nanumba North has indicated that the security situation at Bimbilla remains unpredictable.

He said factions in the Bimbilla conflict were highly suspicious about each other even though there was calm in the area.

Alhaji Abass said this on Tuesday at Bimbilla when Mr James Agalga,  Deputy Minister of The Interior, led a team to assess the security situation in the area.

The team comprised Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Northern Regional Minister, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Ken Yeboah, Northern Region Police Commander and other security commanders in the Region.

Alhaji Ibn-Abass said the District Security Committee (DiSEC) was working seriously to bring the needed peace to the area, saying that the local residents were going about their duties and normally respecting the curfew imposed on the township.

He appealed to the media to continue to demonstrate professionalism in reporting the Bimbilla situation.

Mr Agalga indicated that President Mahama was very much worried about the recent disturbances at Bimbilla which occurred on the 9th of July this year, and which claimed13 lives.

He urged the people to unite to bring lasting peace to the area, noting that Bimbilla was a hub for agriculture and must not be destroyed through conflicts.

Alhaji Limuna assured the people of government's commitment to finding a lasting solution to the situation.

Yelinbongu-Lana Abdulai Andani, Regent of Bimbilla, expressed gratitude to the government and assured the delegation of his co-operation to sustain the peace in the area.
