As part of the OAfrica #KidsOurFuture campaign, investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas looked into the increasing numbers of children begging illegally on the streets of Ghana.
Further studies and investigations conducted by "Tiger Eye PI" revealed the phenomenon of child begging is more than just children asking for money on the streets.
It was observed that children were trafficked by adults and used as buisness. Children are denied of their right to education, good health, nutrition, protection and choices and do dangerous work for the benefit of the traffickers, who buy and sell them across borders with impunity.
This observation culminated in the ten minute film "Chained by Begging" with an original score by Stonebwoy to be shown on all major TV networks across the country in the month of August.

who is interested in this stage managed film. if this is what it takes to be an investigative journalist then i can consider myself as one. the only problem i have is where to advertise my stories. anytime i am in a car, i take videos of everything happening on the roads. from drivers overtaking to wrong parking. from trotro mates fighting with passengers to drivers refusing to allow passengers get down at places convenient to them. i have a video of ple begging on the streets as well. i could have make public my videos but i think these ple committed no crime in their quest to survive. why shd u take video of ple asking u for something small to survive. if u watch the video carefully u will see how many people rushed to his care to beg for arms. it could be that the director of this film asked the ple to go to that car. it also be bcos of the kind of car anas was driving. u had the privilege to drive in a big car which many believed has been acquired to dubious means and all u could do is to video them and use them to make more money for urself. anas what kind of human being are u? all u want to do is to make ur living at the expense of the less privilege. why wont ple be mad at u. upon all the monies u get, what have u done for this kids on the streets? this is is just not fair. may the law of natural justice deal with u. i rest my case.
is this ***barred word*** still does his so called investigation. when people want public sympathy, they run behind issues concerning children and women. He wants public sympathy to cover his shame. No matter what you do, if you don't confess your sins, God ll continues to shame you. you have teamed up with politicians to steal from us, what do you expect?
is this one too news. who doesnt see ple begging on the streets. and who doesnt know that most of the kids begging are being pushed by adults to do that? some adults even used kids to initiate robbery attacks on unsuspecting victims. it looks like this guy has been seriously distracted by Ken. or this may be a way to see if ple are still interested in his kweku ananse story. unfortunately kweku baako can not hype his stories again bcos he deceived him by telling him that his latest work was a collaboration with BBC. i am very sure kweku baako will be investigating him by now.
Masa Anas, you can’t have my support again. Gold digger and your Boss Kweku Baako a lier.
we not interested again in this investigation. selective investigation living the main mafias walking and talking freely on the radio stations. He is also not clean as he made as to think. His hands are soiled and lost my respect.
@Atsu, I agree with you! Anas would have had my 1000% support if he was going after these politicians who steal our monies every milliseconds of the time. rather he chose to destroy ple who are trying to survive and help their families. he could not make public his investigations into the rot in the legislature and the galamsey operations. u chose to expose the small th1?eves forgetting that the activities of the big ***barred word*** is what leads to the existence of the small ones. i agree that crime is crime but we need to think abt the effects on society. how can u compare the effects of the politicians stealing our monies to the ple taking bribes? in fact, there wouldnt have been match ple on the streets today if our leaders do the right thing. irrespective of what sends these kids to the streets, i believe everything can be summarized into one which is the HARDSHIP in the system. some of them may be kids whose parents may have lost their means of livelihood due to ur (anas) actions. do not be surprise to see the number increasing as many ple are loosing their jobs due to ur recent film. by the way this is only a 10 mins film which means either much is not done or this is a stage managed film. well, i will leave that to Ken to investigate u for us. now i understand ur timelines 2 months : 10mins film and 2 years (24months): 2hrs (120mins) film. and now no more premiering, thanks to Ken. well, as for me i believe this is a stage manage act and will not lead anywhere. it will not get the kids out of the streets. what will solve this problem is holding our leaders accountable for a penny the take from the nations coffers. until then forget it.
They are hiding them in their houses, remember what Mr Rawlings said concerning Ofosu Kwakye buying a house with physical cash of 2million dollars, and the owner of the house had to spend the whole night with his family counting the money
We want Anas’s #13 investigation Video on how and where the NDC hide their loot and share monies, so that we can retrieve and use them to fund our deplorable roads in Volta and the Northern Regions.
