The Zongo Development Fund ( ZoDF ) Secretariate will undertake various projects at a cost of Ghc 50.1million in Zongo Communities across the country this year 2020.
Mr Arafat Sulemana Abdulai Acting CEO of ZoDF made this known at a press briefing in Accra.
According to Mr Sulemana Abdulai the projects to be carried out this year among others include 30 basic classroom units , three Senior High School classroom units , furnishing of 50 basic schools , provide 3000 community street lights and construct 50 water systems in some Zongo Communities .
He said since its establishment to date , the ZoDF Secretariate has undertaken projects in the area of Health of which a total of 1,333 people have so far benefitted from the health screening exercises , ICT training programs for the youth which are still ongoing and about 1000 young people are expected to be trained by the end of the year 2020 , mechanized water systems and street lights among other projects .
Mr Arafat Sulemana Abdulai said the ZoDF project aims at transforming the lives of about five million people resident in about 3000 Zongo Communities in the country .
" In line with the President's vision to promote Arabic education and also enhance the learning experience of millions of children who attend English- Arabic schools , the fund in the past two years has engaged 3000 Arabic teachers to teach in English- Arabic and Makaranta schools around the country " Mr Sulemana Abdulai stated.
" I have the permission of the Minister to announce that all arrears owed these teachers has been paid to the YEA which is the agency responsible for paying their allowances , " he added .
