Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, has claimed that Christians are responsible for the increase in corruption menace in the country.
He criticized some Ghanaians, particularly religious leaders and politicians whose actions he said has become the bane of Ghana’s problems.
Speaking at a gathering in Kumasi, Apostle Nyamekye said it was unfortunate that some pastors spend enough time preaching not about the word of God but material things they possess, while some chiefs have also made it a practice to sell one parcel of land to 10 people, describing these acts as disgraceful.
According to him, it is wrong to always blame only politicians for corruption, noting many directors of institutions who are Christians and leaders of their churches are perpetrators of corruption.
He said it is regrettable when 70 per cent of Ghana’s population said to be Christians yet corruption is on the ascendency in the country, making Christians dominate in corruption in the country.
He said amidst the strategies adopted by successive governments, Ghana still lags behind and ranks poorly in the fight against the age-old canker – corruption.
Apostle Nyamekye has thus called for a complete change of mindset to free the system of corruption and selfishness.

Thank you Kaku. I fully support your assertion. we have thrown away wisdom, morality uprightness all all the good behaviours and replaced them with the love for money. MONEYCRACY. We are lost unless God Himself intervenes. thank you again Kaku.
@SAM, How do you determine a church goer and a true christian? Every church goer is a christian. Where lays the Thy shall not judge saying? A lot of Christians think only spiritual money is a sin But corrupt monies are a blessing from God.
the pulpit must be used to draw attention for christians to eschew corrupts acts
Mr. Chairman of Pentecost, it is not Christians who are corrupt. Every Ghanaian is corrupt. Since Christians are in the majority, they will continue to take the first spot in corruption. This is because, Ghanaians LOVE MONEY, to the extent that, no one respects you if you are poor. And human nature as it is, everybody wants to be respected. In times past, people were respected for their wisdom and upright life style. It is no more. So people will do anything to be rich and get the respect he/she thinks he/she deserves. Our value system as a nation and people has been reduced to becoming rich, no matter what, how you get rich notwithstanding.
Well said Papa. People talk of corruption being synonymous to only politicians. corruption is at the very core of the nation. It will fascinate you to the core when you see hour corruption goes on even in our basic schools during elections to select prefects.
A word fitly spoken is like APPLES OF GOLD IN SETTINGS OF SILVER .PROVERBS 25:11
Apostle, most people claiming to be Christians are not Christians but church goers. A Christian is Christ like. To be a Christian is to be Saved from sin/ born again and living a life pleasing to the Lord. At the Lords return which is going to happen any moment from now, He will surely tell most of these people that He does not know them and will cast them into Hell. We got to admit that we have sinned, confess our sins, forsake them and believe that Jesus Christ the only Son of God died to redeem us from our sins. If we pray the sinners prayer and be sure that we are pardoned, Gods spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are reconciled with God then we shall have the power to go and sin no more. The world will then feel and know that we are like Christ and the nation will benefit. God bless you.
Well said Osofo
