The Northern regional police command has named the seven suspects arrested in connection with the Gushegu massacre as Blingnaba Chesei, Akwasi Chesei and Bawa Chesei, all siblings from one family.
The rest are Abdulai Maabi and Ntiegmabu Nbeyabu alias Kabonaa, Simon Noajam and Maabi Gnanikum who were lead characters in the scramble for cattle and sheep of some runaway Fulani nomads now seeking refuge in the Gushegu Township.
The Northern Regional Crime Officer, DSP Mahama Arhin, confirmed their arrests to Citi News and hinted that majority of them will be tried in Yendi while the rest will be transferred to Tamale.
He said the suspects have been charged for various offences including murder, arson and stealing. According to DSP Arhin, the eighth prime suspect called James Neina Waja is on the run but gave the assurance that he will soon be arrested.
