The Western Regional Fire Service recorded 379 fire incidents in 2013 with an estimated damage cost of GH�676, 514.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Obeng Dankwa Dwamena, who gave the data to the Ghana News Agency said domestic fire incidents accounted for 134, vehicular 71, industrial 27 and commercial 26.
The rest were electrical fire occurrences 38, bush fires 45, institutional 6 and others 32.
According to him, 17 people suffered various degrees of injuries with five deaths.
He assured that the Service was prepared and committed to ensuring safety of properties and individuals, and entreated the public to be cautious particularly during the harmattan season.
