A 30-year-old student of the IPMC College of Technology, has been arrested by the police for issuing fake driving licence stickers to a woman.
Matthew Sackey Nii Gyan was arrested on Tuesday, August 12, when one of his victims went to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to renew her licence.
Briefing The Ghanaian Times, the Airport District Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Anyidoho, said when the victim gave her licence card to the authorities at the DVLA, it was detected that the sticker on it was fake.
When she was questioned, she informed them that it was Gyan who issued her with the licence.
When Gyan was arrested, he admitted issuing the fake licence, explaining that someone had given it to him to be given to the victim.
DSP Anyidoho said a search on him revealed three similar fake licence renewal stickers, ID cards and passport sized pictures belonging to different people believed to be his victims.
He said Gyan has been placed in police custody assisting in investigations after which he would be put before court.
