Some residents of Adabraka Sahara, one of the areas earmarked by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for demolition have already started moving out.
The AMA issued a two-week ultimatum to the residents who live in the flood-prone area, especially those closer to choked gullies to evacuate or risk having their structures demolished.
Four people died in the area in the recent rains that flooded parts of Accra and caused the death of over 150 people.
A former Assembly Member for the area, Hendrick Noble Kinnah said the demolishing was long overdue because “most of the people along the gutter are selling drinks or operating chop bars which is not good for our health.”
