Construction works to upgrade the Nsawam lorry terminal to give comfort to travelers and drivers have commenced.
The project, which would cost about GHȼ800,000 is expected to be ready by November.
Mr. Ben Ohene-Ayeh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, new terminal shades and offices for the driver unions together with stores for traders would be built.
He said when completed it would provide adequate space for over 2,000 drivers and traders.
The MCE said a temporary lorry park had been created at the Al-Raji School Park in the Adoagyiri Zongo, to enable the project to go on smoothly.
Mr. Isaac Kwaku Afum, Chairman of Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipal branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) appealed to the contractors to do everything to meet the deadline.
