The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, has paid a courtesy call on the President-elect of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, to present to him the official response of the British government to his recent election.
Benjamin congratulated the 72 year old through a statement after his election, but called on him personally today to present a letter from the British PM to be handed to Nana Addo.
The leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana won the just ended election in a near landslide, beating the incumbent John Dramani Mahama by close to 10 percentage points, with his party also winning 170 seats in Ghana’s 275 seat legislature. (four constituencies outstanding).
Akufo-Addo takes over on the 7th of January, 2016.
