Immigration Service Cautions Public Against Fake Recruitment Messages

The Western Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has cautioned the public to disregard false publications circulating on unauthorised websites and social media about the recruitment of personnel into the Service.

According to a statement signed by the Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Service, ICO Moses Manford Akakpo, the criminal elements have resorted to the creation of fake social media accounts using details of some prominent officers of the Service in their attempt to deceive the unsuspecting general public.

The statement said the service had not embarked on any recruitment exercise and did not recruit or enlist people into the service through social media platforms, agents or intermediaries.

The statement indicated that the announcement of GIS recruitment or enlistment was usually made in the national dailies and the service official website and that people should disregard the publications and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

"The GIS, therefore, admonishes the general public to be wary of such charlatans and individuals who claim to be issuing appointment letters, or have the ability to assist individuals to be recruited or enlisted into the GIS."

The statement said "the command is by the release informing the general public that GIS has not assigned agents, social media platforms or mobile money accounts through, which such recruitments are made".

"The general public is, therefore, being encouraged to be on the lookout for such criminal elements within the society and report their conduct to the appropriate quarters for immediate arrest and prosecution".

"We urge all those who may have received such recruitment messages or fallen victims already to such unscrupulous schemes to assist with Investigations by providing credible information to our offices dotted across the country".
