A district court in Asokwa in the Ashanti Region has remanded into police custody the three suspects linked to the killing of Ibrahim “Kaaka” Mohammed, a social media activist.
The suspects – Issaka Ibrahim aka Anyaas, Fuseini Alhassan and Iddi Mohammed – made their first appearance in court on Friday. Ibrahim and Alhassan had been detained by the police since Monday 28 June; Iddi Mohammed was detained on 30 June.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime (to wit, murder) and murder. The court, presided over by Akua Adu Boahene, Esq, has adjourned the case to 22 July 2021.
Kaaka, 45, died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday after being ambushed in the small hours of Sunday in Ejura. The death of Kaaka, a father of five, triggered widespread anger among the youth, who have called for the arrest of the culprits.
Clad in red armbands and headgear, the angry youngsters blocked roads leading to the town to press home their demands.
