The management of Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE) will organise the fourth “Innovation Week” 2009 from Wednesday, October 7 to Friday, October 9 in Accra on the theme: ”ICT Innovation: Creating New Markets, Web2.0 and Beyond”.

A release issued in Accra said the “i-week” annual event was designed to galvanize key present and future players in ICT innovation economy in Ghana and the ECOWAS Sub-Region.

It is a rallying point and a platform to enable individuals, companies and communities central to Ghana’s innovation economy and the ECOWAS Sub-Region to come together, advance their respective agenda and exploit business opportunities.

The event would engage innovators, stakeholders and the public through educational forums, presentations and exhibits to access business opportunities associated with Web2.0, bring innovator and investors together to create new business and promote the use of Web2.0 technologies to foster the well being of people and society.

The release said with the global economic slowdown affecting many regions, organisations were looking to the latest deployment in technologies to enable them achieve their operational goals.

It said investment in ICT continued to be a priority for health, education, public service, governance, poverty reduction and revenue mobilisation.

Technology experts are developing and adopting more efficient methods to improve productivity and would be capitalising on “i-week09” to pursue new opportunities and explain the concept of Web2.0 as a technology driving economic growth and social progress.

Innovation will also be on display because IT industry support has been robust with software and hardware developers.

“i-week09” incorporates a powerful week of dedicated technology event including business solutions, facebook, web design, scientific research as well as targeted networking initiatives designed to ensure the events cover the entire technology spectrum.
