REV. DR. Owusu Bempah, founder and General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministries International has warned Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan not to allow himself to be used by politicians in this year’s general election.
According to him, the nation could be plunged into chaos if Dr. Afari-Gyan allowed himself to be manipulated by politicians for their selfish interest.
He therefore advised the electoral commissioner to stand firm and conduct the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner, adding, “He must not allow himself to be influenced by money or anything.”
Rev. Bempah made this known in an interview with the press at his office in Accra.
He said “If the election will go well and be peaceful, it all depends on the EC, on how it will conduct the elections. Since 1992, the EC has discharged its duties creditably so the commissioner should not do anything that will bring the institution’s name to disrepute.”
Rev. Bempah urged Dr. Afari-Gyan to announce the winner of the polls himself in order for peace to prevail in the country.
He said politicians must conduct their campaigns devoid of insults and tribalism which had a possibility of plunging the nation into civil war.
Touching on his recent prophecy that this year’s election could lead to a war, he said all his prophecies concerning the country had come to pass, stating, “God revealed to me last year on December 31, 2011, that there would be a plane crash in Ghana, the president and former vice president will die and it has happened and the same God has revealed to me that there could be war in the country.”
He said “I am worried about the revelation because the country will not survive it if the war should happen that is why I want all Ghanaians to stand up with one voice and pray against the perpetrators.”
Rev. Bempah said Christians must pray to avert the calamity and politicians must be ready to accept when their party loses the forthcoming elections for the sake of mother Ghana.
He said “the violence that took place during the biometric voter registration exercise should be a lesson to all Ghanaians,” adding that the responsibility rested on every Ghanaian to stop the war from occurring.
Rev. Bempah appealed to all Christians in the country to fast and pray so that God would intervene and take away the calamity that could befall the nation.
He urged the security agencies not to work in favor of any political party but must discharge their duties professionally and with fairness to all parties.
