The death of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North JB Danquah has united two feuding factions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

At the one week memorial service for the late legislature in Accra, the two parties, Paul Awentime Afoko and Freddie Blay, came face-to-face with each other for the first time in public since the suspension of the former as national chair in October 2015.

Just when everybody thought the two may not see eye ball to eyeball, especially, when the animosity between them had become so intense, the duo took everybody by surprise and shook hands at the memorial service grounds to signify the end of their conflict.

The former deputy Speaker of Parliament had taken his seat with the flagbear of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition to commiserate with the bereaved family of the late J. B. Danquah-Adu when Afoko stormed the grounds.

As tradition demands, he had to go round and greet those already seated to signify his respect. When he got to where Blay was seated, the suspended national Chair smiled, shook hands and exchange pleasantries with the man who has taken over his position in the party.

Blay, then First Vice National Chair of the NPP, took over the role of as National Chair in an acting position following the suspension of Mr. Afoko.

Prior to that, he was heavily seen as the de-facto national Chair of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

He was criticized for always side stepping the authority of Afoko.
