The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is wondering why the ruling government set up the Komenda sugar factory if they knew "sugar was not goood"
This follows the "reckless" comments made by Chief of Staff of the Mahama administration, Julius Debrah, who, whilst campaigning in the Brong Ahafo Region, urged Ghanaians to stop patronizing made-in-Ghana fruit juice beverage, Kalyppo.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, after killing Ghanaian businesses in the last 8 years because of poor policies, the Mahama government is now actively campaigning to collapse Ghanaian businesses, which employ thousands of people across the country.
“I have heard one of Mahama’s appointees (Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah) saying that Ghanaians should no longer consume Kalyppo because it contains sugar. So after killing Ghanaian businesses, they are now campaigning to make sure that no one patronises made-in-Ghana products, and thereby collapse Ghanaian businesses? Ghanaians should not pay heed to such loose-talk from officials of the Mahama government,” he said while addressing a mammoth night rally at Kwadaso, on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the end of day-2 of his 4 day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
Nana Akufo-Addo continued, “If, indeed, sugar was bad, why have they set up the Komenda sugar factory, a factory they have made so much noise about? To them, sugar is bad and, yet, they spent so much money on the Komenda sugar factory, which is not even working? This propaganda will not work.”

The health effects of heavy consumption of sugar drink for old aged people are grievous, even to young people as well. So the chief of staff is right though he also tried to play politics, by bringing in ''kalypolities'' a word that does not exist. Please let's stop the politics and educate people. Google "the effect of sugary drinks on adults" and you will be educated on the risk it poses to adults, especially older persons.
Never knew that Nana is such an id.iot! The man lacks knowledge and commonsense.
Look at sweeping generalisation by Debra tikese. Who told him that sugar is not good for elderly. It all depends on your health status. May I ask whether Debra drinks coca kola? It contains more sugar than fruit juice. Look at poverty levels in Ghana and an elder from my village who drinks these drinks only at funerals get this juice to drink and you say it is not good for him. What logic is this? Debra, Mahama and NDC collapse Ghanaian Businesses and drink your Champagne and vodka. We have no money for this? Ghana has made these NDC akromfo rich so they talk any how. It is because Nana drank this drink hence he is trying all these illogical reasoning. It is sad and shamful
funny and strange Reply from nana. This shows his ignorance on nuitrition.we like sugar but ist not healthy.babys and children already develop bad teeth due to too much sugar in some baby Foods.in a country like Ghana where Diabetes is a Problem such a Statement is not wise
Nana, don't mind Mahama! He is confused and does not know what to do! He know his time is up. Ghanaians are poised to VOTE MAHAMA/NDC out come Dec. 2016
MASA AT YOUR AGE YOU CONTINUE TO CONSUME KALYPO AND YOU WILL SEE YOUR SMOOTHNESS LEVEL
NDC attack dogs out in full force. Your propaganda to humiliate Nana Addo backfired right in your faces $cumbags. Change is here
This man has displace his ignorance on health issues. I am sure he didn't know what he was talking about. He couldn't have simply said I know sugar is not good for the elderly but, young men and women and children are going to patronize kallyppo because of he advertise for them by drinking only one. He could say he doesn't drink kallyppo every day because he knows it's not good for the aged. But his response is clearly below the belt. By his answer he is trying to say indeed sugar is good for the elderly, which is wrong.
