Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, has blamed Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, founder of the NDC for masterminding the party’s defeat in the just ended elections.
According to him, Ex-President Jerry Rawlings painted the party and its leaders as corrupt, paving way for the largest opposition party(NPP) to use such words against them.
“We as a party have a founder who is former President Jerry John Rawlings, and as party members we felt he should be a protective cover for the party and the government but he chose to arm the opposition against us. Why do I say so? The NPP got to our heels by campaigning against us heavily on this so called corruption perception,” he said.
He said anytime the NPP made that corruption claim they point at the founder, who said President John Mahama is presiding over the most corrupt government as such they should be voted out.
Nana Akufo-Addo in his acceptance speech congratulated Ex-President Jerry Rawlings, on the basis of thanking him for the victory he helped him win.
In an interview with Citi FM, he also talked about how Former President Jerry John Rawlings refused to be part of any of the party’s meetings during their campaign but had time for other opposition party gatherings.
“We as a party made numerous moves to have meetings with our founder; he will not agree but had the time and the opportunity to open his doors for Volta Regional NPP executives to have meetings with them. In fact we are not going to call on him anymore for any meeting but we are ready to meet him if he calls on us as a father.”

Rawlings didn't PAINT ndc as corrupt. In fact everybody now knows that ndc is CARVED out of CREATE-LOOT-AND-SHARE. Corruption here, corruption there, corruption everywhere! If anything at all, you should commend your founder for the immense courage he has exhibited in chastising his own party. Stubborn as you are, you refused to heed to his numerous advice! Blame your STUBBORNNESS for your defeat!
Gmmm.look deir fUullish talks. Was it not Asiedu Nketia who said Rawlings was old 2 engage in active politics .u sidelined the man den after yr greed n corrupt practices had led 2yr defeat bow u turn around n blame him.A Fuuul like u reason up
...confused NDC and the blame game....
At least show some respect to your founder who worked hard to get you all your strong holds that gave you all the votes. After all the hard workin 2008 you pushed him aside and said he wanted to control Mills. His real intension was to protect the NDC and the corruption that has engulfed the party. Can you see the humiliation defeat at the polls??? Even your assertion that he is no longer important to the NDC alone shows how ungrateful you are.
NDC no longer belongs to Rawlings. Everybody knows that he planned the break away of the NDP with the wife. Their long held objective was just to see to it that NDC loses and that objective has now been realised but he is no longer that important because we have all seen that without them NDC can win elections. If he tries to take back the NDC that would break the party further and send it into an endless oblivion. But let me warn NDC, the party does not need aim1ess politicians like kwaku barko to suggest who should be the flag bearer. NDC should stick to its own culture and system for succession.
You named him barking dog and what do you expect from him?Blame yourself from the top, else you will stay in opposition for ever.
Blame everyone else except yourselves.
Please stop blaming JJ Rawlings for your defeat. He warned the party during Late Professor Attah Mills time. Go back to the drawing board and clean your house.
Corruption is or was not a perception, it is/was a damn reality my brother.
You guys pushed him out but I will be happy he takes his party back. At least no one could steal and go unpunished. Asiedu Nketia and his bunch of ***barred word*** are gone and Ghana is better without them in authority.
