Outgoing president, John Dramani Mahama has thanked Ghanaians for helping him deliver on a four-year mandate given him in 2012 in his last new year message to the nation as president.
In a rather emotional piece, President Mahama thanks God, the citizenry and his family for a successful four-year tenure while urging all to help sustain the progress the country has made in the past years.
He emphasised the need for all to acknowledge and work towards maintaining the 'prosperity' that the country has succeeded in establishing.
"Ghana has managed to succeed in establishing prosperity for all and sustainable growth, which is evident by the degree of social and economic transformation that has taken place all around us this past four years", he said.
President Mahama wants the country to be guided by history as it marks 60 years of independence in the coming months.
"It is my hope that we look to our past to help guide us into our future, the world around us is changing at a very fast pace in other to remain relevant on the world stage, we must keep up with those changes."
He urged Ghanaians to move forward as a nation, and also pray for the well-being, longevity, and prosperity of the nation.
‘’It has been a blessing serving this nation and I thank each and every Ghanaian and God Almighty for this privilege and I wish you all a joyous 2017.’’
President John Mahama also wished the incoming president, Nana Akufo-Addo God’s blessings as he takes office on January 7.

Across the country entertainment spots are bidding mahama farewall by playing Onaapo's remix "Mahama Bye Bye Ooh! Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur"
I know Ghanaians have no respect for elders but hey guys that will and never do any of you good. If Persident is your family member , father or uncle wwill you stand or be in media to insult him ? I believe the answer is NO. Then why ? When are we going to behave well towards elders or grow up? Why have we allow polities to affact our manners for elders? I believe strongly that all those that rises insult on the outgoing president are christians. Now let me ask , Is that how our pastors is teaching us ? Did the bible also said we should insult our elders when we dont agree with them or not in the same political plateform ? Hmmmmm i get sad anytime about how ghanaian behave toward our leaders and even pastors. To me am not surprise the young are perishing and going through a hard time in life. Its my prayer that God will continue to have mercy on each for the change of mind towards our leaders and elders in our motherland. Ghana is one and there is no Ghana anywhere.so think twice .
''Ghana has managed to succeed in establishing prosperity for all and sustainable growth, which is evident by the degree of social and economic transformation that has taken place all around us this past four years", he said. Mahama is a very wicked president... The economic transformation he is talking about only refers to his cronies involved in the create, l00t and share scheme. Get lost and we will not miss you. Remember to take your bribe ford car with you.
Where is Kwesi Pratt? Has he travelled overseas? Has he finished his work? Is he on vacation or leave? Is he licking his wounds? Has he been admitted at any of the nation's hospitals? Is he in a comatose or shock? Can someone please help me to locate Mr. Pratt so I can hear what he has to say about ndc's loss? He predicted a win for ndc, however, after the elections, he has not come out to defend himself on why his predictions did not work. Where are you hiding Mr. Pratt? Can we hear your voice please? We miss Masa Masa, Masa Masa. Come on Kwesi, aren't you a man? Where have you gone to hid yourself? lol.
Yes, I personally thought you should not have contested the 2016 elections because the heckling was too much. It looked like the whole Ghana did not like you. This has nothing to do with competence or performance. The number of workers strike we witnessed under you were overwhelming and I am particularly glad that under Nana Addo, workers would no longer have the moral right to go on strike again. After 8 months court case, which started as bogus but began to gain importance. Just after the court case they started judging your performance, which was very unfair. Nothing you did was going to be appreciated because even NDC insiders were against you. The very people crying corruption were complaining because they were left out in the chop chop. So go home and rest and please never come back again.
@PADG The youngest president of the 4th Republic is the founder of your party. He was 46 years in 1992. I stand to be corrected.
John Mahama, please get off our backs with these empty messages. Your one-term administration has been very terrible and we're tired of you and your bunch of arrogant, corrupt, disrespectful and reckless appointees. Get lost and let's think!
