A decision by President-elect Nana Akufo Addo to name certain individuals he would be working with during the first term of his tenure, has been described as “alien” and one that lacks constitutional backing by the Member of Parliament for Juaboso.
Hon. Mintah Akandoh explains that he has taken the pain to thoroughly search the constitution but is yet to come across any instrument that gives our President-elect the power to name his ministers before he is sworn into power.
Shortly after President-elect, Nana Akufo Addo had toured the Flagstaff House yesterday, he organized a press conference at his residence to name some members of his backroom staff to steer the affairs of government at least for the first four years.
But speaking in an interview on Radio Gold which was monitored by Peacefmonline.com, the outgoing Deputy Minister of Natural Resources noted that the president-elect could have just waited for a few days after his swearing-in to name ministers and staff he wishes to work with at the Presidency.
The legislator claims the step taken by the incoming president is a bad one.
“What Nana Addo has done is alien to the constitution of the land…he should know governance is a serious business”, he said.
Hon. Mintah Akandoh insisted that the appointments by the president-elect were needless and gave an explanation that “he (Nana Addo) should be sworn in first before starting his appointments”.
He further explained that “Nana Addo isn’t the President of the land today… only the President can make an appointment. We always have one president not two. This is a democratic country so we have to abide by our rules and regulations".

mr mp stop the rubbish, and go seat somewhere you tink you all right please leave NANA alone
What a sad advertisement of ignorance and ***barred word***.And these the best and brightest Mahama could find? It is even more shameful for Ghanaians to call this ***barred word*** 'Honorable'. EEEi, eka a yebo atua!
KWAKWAKWAKWA AGYEEEEIII MASRE SAAA MY BALLS MPO YEM3 YA. WHAT DID THEFORMER DINNING HALL PREFECT SAY.
Oh Akandoh, I am a true NDC and under normal circumstances, I would have defended you but for this you have made me feel ashamed as NDC member. Please dont let me believe that we the NDC are mostly alliterate. I know compared with the scholars in NPP you are just a first year student, so you should have kept quiet on this matter. If what nana has done was not constitutional, at least, we have far better lawyers in NDC than you are (if even you are a lawyer at all)and they would have voiced out their concerns, but not you. You are an MP today because at your constituency, I believe most people are farmers and you with your first degree, there was no choice but you, afterall in the land of blind men....). In fact,if you were a member of NPP, educated gurus, I dont think you will even be qualified to be a village sectary to the party. So as for this you have disgraced yourself, your family and the party. Please next time that you want to say something go to the specialist, even if takes you to go the NPP themselves and ask for advice before you expose your ignorance. Remember, our time is over and you are with real experienced, wise and above all scholars and know that the days of first degree holders governing the country is over and nobody will defend you if you continue with this kind of what I will call 'academic incompetence'. My last advice is that now that you have become MP, count yourself as one of the lucky ones amongst NDC candidates, so try to plan how you will spend your monthly salary for your future because I am sure 2020 will be tough for you to win again with all this 'academic incompetence' exposure. Maybe, if you are interested in Law, try to register now and start the school so that you can become a good lawyer like Nana Addo. A word to the wise is .........
Is this guy also in parliament? How could all these guys be in our Parliament when he doesnt even know what time is it. Asem oo!!
Infact we have ***barred word*** people headquarters in the NDC and no wonder this so called Akando is out of job.
YESTERDAY IT WAS AKAMBA, AND TODAY IT IS AKAMDO! WHO UNLEASHED THIS BREED ON US?
Akandoh, Nana Addo has not appointed anybody, he has only named the people he is going to work with when he is sworn in. And let me give you a word of advice: We have voted for intelligent people to govern the country so you and your ilk should ***barred word*** and not waste our ears. Go to your little village and enjoy them hailing as a former Dinning Hall prefect.
Who is this ignoramus? My goodness, governance is not the same as supervising the sharing of food at the school dining hall. Will somebody be kind enough to please pass this information on to the 'honourable' member of parliament? Thank you.
I just wonder which law the president-elect has violated by naming persons he will work with. I also wonder how this person became a lawmaker. Just waist of our time
